I call this story a bs. Scammer would have not sent unless you deposited money (and those that do are dumb).

Scammer, was selling an iPhone on Gumtree, asks to deposit money as bank deposit and sends you tracking number for the item he has supposedly sent.

It's a false tracking number for a small letter not the actual item. Lucky I wasn't going to pay untill it arrived. Nice try though!
