Woman who rang did not give name, said from Telstra offered 30% off bills for six months, advised I had just spoken to Telstra. She then proceeded to hang up.

Caller: She had an Indian accent and said she was from Telstra
A woman with an Indian accent called and said she was from Telstra.
I could hardly understand what she was saying.
I said to her straight away, “ I am not interested in your call, especially since you are overseas “ then immediately hung up.
As I don’t have any accounts with Telstra and she had such a strong accent, I immediately knew it was a scam.
What I don’t understand is why the telecommunications companies don’t put a block on these scammers numbers, they must have a duty of care.

Had this same call from those Indian scam centres last year that have unfortunately logged into Telstra's website, so it makes it look more authentic. They offer you a 50% discount for being a loyal customer, and will give you a different email address for you to pay your bill through, then send you your next bill to pay via the new email address. It all looks exactly like Telstra's bill because the have hacked into Telstra's account. I notified Telstra and they re instated my existing email address. I never lost any money because l acted straight away, assuming it was a scam. If you get these sort of calls, ask them what Telstra office or department they are ringing from, which city or state, do not give them any details of your personal id. Birthdays, licence, passport or any other info. They usually hang up once you start reversing the questioning. On YouTube you can see a guy in America that has worked out a way that hacked in into the Indian hackers and somehow has got them on film working their scams. Apparently some of these scammers work in legitimate businesses by day but at night the scammers shift takes over. So ask a sh*t load of questions to them and they will eventually hang up. By the way Telstra do not ring their customers. Not sure about other carriers or providers. Regards Brian.

Had a conversation with a woman claiming to be from Telstra - again hard to understand, wanted to give me a discount on my phone due to technical difficulties with a G5 roll out. gave me an email which was not mine and then asked for my email address - I asked why and she indicated she wanted to send to my email an updated invoice with a 50% discount. I declined to give it to her because if she was from Telstra she could send to my phone app. The conversation ended there.

Stated she was from telstra. Offered 50% I declined then ended the call. She then proceeded to try and call me 4 times which I didn't answer then ended up blocking the number. Fraud 100%

The machine answering cannot leave the message on this number 0438 820 479. I think it's a scam. Not in my contact list.
