I received SMS message saying CommBank has temporaty block my card with ending number 7518 asking me to confirm $300 ATM transaction in local currency. WTF... local currency? ATM transaction? it's not Aussie banks language. Do go to CommBank website and search for SCAM there are tones of samples.

THIS IS A SCAM!! what is most upsetting is these scammers have the nerve to comment on this space.

Having worked for CommBank I can tell you that they would NEVER! text you off a mobile number like this.

You have been contacted by this number because they have half your personal info. Not enough to do damage but this text is a attempt to get more details from you and to defraud you!

This is a legit Commonwealth Bank number / text message!
I was also at first suspicious when receiving the text & did a Google search which took me here, but bizarrely others are saying Scam, so I called Commonwealth Bank who confirmed this is their number & my card had attempted unauthorised transactions against it.

This number is legitimate - Comm Bank security team. I received two texts telling me my credit card had been temporarily blocked after purchasing online from a dodgy website (found this out later). I phoned the Comm Bank on their general inquiries number, who verified that my account had in fact been blocked automatically after the online transaction.

Hard to believe what people say on a forum, especially anonymously, but I received a text saying:
Hello <my real name> Commbank has temporarily blocked your card ending in xxxx (which was my actual card) and to confirm that this transaction was performed by me.

I don't trust these messages, especially over a text message so I called CBA and they confirmed they did send it!
While I was on the phone with them a second message came through saying it is important that I reply.

For what it's worth, from an anonymous person on the internet, the message is really from CBA.

This is NOT a scam - it is the CBA Fraud department. My card had been compromised with a $2700 charge from VERIZON in the US. The text included the name of the company who charged the card so you can verify this in your Netbank pending transactions if you have any doubts about its legitimacy.

Agreed. I received a similar message, though not the original, leaving me wondering what was going on. I put my credit card on hold and answered Yes. Comm Bank replied. I released my card and all was good.

I called the bank and they confirmed they had sent a message due to suspicious withdrawal on my card, blocked the card and have now sent me a new card. Seems to be a lot of confusion about this number but it does belong to Commonwealth bank, at least at this time. I recommend calling the bank first if you feel unsure and double checking with them. 13 22 21

This is not a scam!
You need to take it seriously when you receive this message.
Log into your commonwealth account and see if there are any unauthorised pending transactions.
If yes, call Commonwealth fraud team immediately at 1800 023 919.
I made a purchase through USA website and Commonwealth considered it as a suspicious transaction and sent me the message from this number.
It is legit, guys.

Not a scam!
Not sure why there are so many mixed messages about this number on here. I got a message from this number saying my card has been temporarily blocked and asking me to confirm a suspicious withdrawal attempt. The message did sound a bit dodgey so I rang CommBank and turned out the message was legit and my card had been skimmed on a recent trip to Bali and someone had tried to withdraw 2 million Rupiah a week after I returned home to Australia. Was happy that CommBank had picked up on it and declined the transaction and. Have now cancelled my card and issued a new one!

I was overseas where I work and received a 'suspect' looking sms from this (mobile) number: 0427 741 911 telling me the message is from 'CommBank' and that they had temporarily blocked my card ending in xxxx.
Message: 'Please confirm a recent ATM transaction for $215.00 in local currency has been performed by you Reply Yes or No'. I almost dismissed it as a phishing scam, but after entering the number 0427 741 911 into google and landed on (this) website and reading a number of comments from others, found that it was legit.
I had indeed performed an ATM withdrawal for the stated amount, so I replied Yes. Immediately after I sent the reply, I received another sms from 'CommBank' informing me: 'The block has been removed from your card and your card will be ready to use in 15 minutes. If the problem persists, contact us on (02) 8055 4117 for assistance'
I then called that number and was assured it was the Commonwealth Bank's security team and they said that a security alert was raised from 2 previous attempts to perform the same withdrawal, but had failed owing to a fault with the ATM. I then went to another ATM which was working ok and successfully completed the transaction. That's when they put the temporary block on my ATM card and sent me the sms asking me confirm that recent transaction was performed by me Yes or No.
So its a legitimate message and it's reassuring to know the bank is working hard to intercept these scams.

I received 2 SMS messages from this number stating that someone had been trying to buy airline tickets to Oman on my credit card and requesting a Y or N answer as to whether it was me.
I ignored the messages as they looked fishy, but after logging into Netbank saw that there were 5 pending fraudulent transactions - 2 with zero value at Uber Eats, and immediately blocked the card temporarily via Netbank,
I called CBA who only answered after an hour of wait music. I logged the 5 transactions with them and they also confirmed that they had fortunately blocked the $2,500 ticket. They told me that my card had been checked by scammers a couple of days earlier, with a zero-cost transaction to see if the card was still active, but I didn't see those txns in Netbank.
I did ask CBA why they don't make it more obvious that their SMS wasn't a phishing message by including the last 4 digits of the misused card, and they said they are working on it to provide more info, so people don't ignore their messages, as some have said on this site.
Having originally blocked the SMS number, it has now been added to my contact list as CBA Fraudline.

I just had the same experience. I wouldn't use the links or reply using any unknown text message number, but I hopped on netbank, and had 5 pending transactions in another state, some scum thief had hacked my mastercard, tested it with an 80c transaction, then spent $1,900 on all sorts of random crap. Cancelled card, lodged dispute, etc. Act on this message if you get one, at least to check your account.

Please do NOT disregard. I was dubious, but checked my account and there were four pending transactions from the US.
Called bank security and card stopped and new card will be issued 3-5 working days.
Painless and a relief!!

This is confusing, there are mixed messages here, some are saying it's legit while others are saying its a scam. So here is my experience:

Received at text from 0427 741 911 "Commonwealth Bank would like to confirm if you have attempted a transaction at UBER EATS...(some details of transaction) Please reply YES or NO".

I thought it was a scam so ignored it. Then 20mins later "It is important you respond to our previous message..."

I googled the number and found this site, after reading the posts I was none the wiser as to whether it was a scam or not. So I logged onto my Netbank and sure enough there were multiple fraudulent transactions pending. I called the 132221 fraud line and they put a stop on my card and disputed the transactions for me.

So is this a legitimate SMS? I'd say it is. I can't understand why some posters are saying its a scam. Either way, if you get an SMS from this number just check your bloody Netbank for unauthorised transactions!

NOT A SCAM!
I got the text around midnight and thought it was a scam. Didn't think much of it. Then checked my account a few days later and turns out my card was skimmed.
Called Commonwealth Bank to confirm. They said it's an automated message when their security system picks up fraud.
Check your accounts and call Commbank asap!

I received 5 notifications from my CBA app thinking they were just spam emails and then 2 SMS messages from this number thinking it was a scam. After searching the number on here and reading that it was possibly the CBA bank sending the SMS, I checked my account and had 7 unauthorised transactions. Contacted CBA and they confirmed it IS their phone number sending an automated SMS.

Commonwealth Bank would like to confirm if you have attempted a transaction at UBER *DSW76 HELP.UBER.C AUS. Please reply YES or NO.
It is important you respond to our previous message. Please reply YES or NO.
