This is Commonwealth Bank.
I thought this was a fraud because of the comments above. I called commonwealth myself and they confirmed my card had been skimmed. If in doubt - call the bank yourself 13 22 21

Caller: Commonwealth Bank After shopping at Woolworths, my card was declined and I received a message from this number. I called the same number back but it's not registered for calls. I immediately checked my account for dodgy charges but didn't see any. Still not satisfied, I called CBA and found out this number is their security team. If in doubt, always call in and check with CBA on 132221. Those who are randomly receiving this message, most likely someone is using your card and CBA security has blocked your card for you. Call and check.

Caller: A scammer I received the two SMS in sequence. Usually Commbank will send me SMS messages using a different number. I called 132221 and they confirmed is not from them. They suggested I report it with my mobile provider.

Caller: 0427 741 911 Trustworthy, it's from Commonwealth Bank.
As strange as it seemed to get a random text saying "Commonwealth Bank would like to confirm if you have attempted a transaction at KEITAIHANNBAINOMOBILES SAPPORO JPN. Please reply YES or NO." it is legit.
I logged into Netbank and found another pending transaction for $0.00 from Mexico (the thief uses this to check the card is still active), so I replied 'No' to the original text, and was called within 60 seconds by CommBank's security team. They asked for my name which I gave (still thinking this may be a scam) then mentioned the 'other pending transaction' but didn't say what it was, the security guy said 'the one from Mexico for $0.00', which passed my test proving it was CommBank.
My card details had been acquired and a purchase of $1,200 was blocked by CommBank, the security team are amazing at what they do.

Text message came from 0427 741 911 at 8pm, after I’d spent $571 at Kmart. I thought the eftpos machine was dodgy. Usually accepts the insert of the card, cause the chip protects your card, but it asked me to swipe my card instead. Then received the dodgy text message twice from presumably Comm Bank. When I texted back yes that I did spend that. It said to call the 1300 360 917 and to confirm some personal details! Definitely a SCAM! Reported It and have ordered a new card!

I have confirmed with CommBank that this is an elaborate scam to steal account details. Do not answer or reply. They followed up the text with an automated call asking me to call 1300 360 917 - Again CommBank confirmed that this is not their number and that it is a scam.

Legitimate messages from commonwealth asking for action to block fraudulent transactions (skimmed or faked combined savings / debit card being used in a city a thousand kilometers from where I was at the time).
Commonwealth Bank would like to confirm if you have attempted a transaction at [BANK SUBURB ATM DETAILS]. Please reply YES or NO
It is important you respond to our previous message. Please reply YES or NO.
Also received 2 messages in a row from 0427 741 911:
CommBank has temporarily blocked your card ending in 7685 for security purposes. Please confirm a recent ATM transaction for $xxx.xx has been performed by you. Reply Yes or No
It is important you respond to our previous message as your card is still blocked. Please reply Yes or No.

Not a scam. Just went in to a Commbank branch to confirm. But if in doubt, best to call the hotline listed on the back of your debit or credit card.

Caller: SMS x 2 Got the sms. Made another transaction. It went through. So card wasn't blocked as sms said it was.
For each message saying it's not legit, there is a flood of messages saying it's legit. Either way, it's suspicious - there are parties invested in having you, the reader, believe a certain way - whether it be truly legit or not.
Consider changing passwords, at least.

Caller: Commonwealth Bank Received SMS after placing an online order. Asked for a Yes/No reply or my credit card would be blocked. Seemed dodgy, so called 132221 ... they confirmed the SMS was legitimate. Still glad I called. I don't understand why the bank would send messages from weird-looking numbers and expect a response.

Caller: Commonwealth bank - text not call This is a legitimate text which I confirmed through calling the fraud number on the CBA website. Now have a cancelled card due to 4 fraudulent transactions and have to wait for another one. Bloody card skimmers! I am going to give feedback to CBA about how dodgy this text looks, as well meaning as it was, as I didn't trust it. Always if in doubt, call a trusted number from a website you have typed in.
