ing direct - safe

Received a text from ING saying my account had fallen below a certain amount, and that a direct debit had failed. When I checked the account had plenty of money and the DD was not scheduled. Even though it looks like its from ING - It's not!

Mobile text sending me a code for my mobile banking device registration. I don't do mobile bank, I don't bank with ING Direct and when i rang the number from a private line I got a message saying the number is disconnected so maybe all the anon above saying it is safe may be connected because it ain't legit for me!

This is safe, same number everytime i transfer money from ING sends a security code needed.

ING doesn't send this sort of SMS. It's a scam

It’s a genuine ING number. They texted me that I had an attempted fraudulent transaction on my account. I called ING and it was genuine, they had to issue me a new card.

Apparently not paid a toll charge. Click the link and pay. Scam of course

Received the below text from this number.. called the 133 464 number back and it was ING. They had to cancel my card and issue a new one. Said I was the 3rd customer to call regarding the below attempted transaction.

Please contact ING on 133 464, or (02) 9028 4077 about a recent attempted transaction with EUWAQXQZ YAESDWU TROIS-RIVIERE CA for an amount of $0.00 on card number ending ****. Your card has been temporarily restrained from further use.

My previous comment is wrong - I checked this out and the text was genuine, I can't delete my original message, sorry about that.

Anyway, I checked my account and $1 had been taken so I sent an online message, ING sent me a number to call to sort it out.

ING, looks very doggy to me, since when would a bank contact me from a mobile number and not through my on-line account.

I see there are posts here saying 'safe' also looks doggy.

I recommend contacting ING if you receive messages from this number and you aren’t an ING customer, as someone may be using your phone number to open a bank account or other financial product.

Just did a transfer to a foreign country using my visa debit card. Done it before to same country. ING always checks and sends me an SMS code to make sure. It comes from this mobile number. It's all OK and my payment went through to the account I required it to. I checked afterwards. Its all good. Pays to always be vigilant though.
