Caller: Supposedly Urban Utilities SMS from "Urban Utilities" directions to pay as our account is over due by several hundred dollars. Funny, we don't have an account with Urban Utilities.

A text message about checking on your neighbours after the fires/storms in NSW. Looks like a number of different Gov departments use this number for messaging.

Today I received a text message from this number telling me about my citizenship test which I've just been informed this morning. This is bizzar ~

Caller: Passport Office Definitely the passport office. Luckily I turned my phone on in time to see the text from them, then to receive a call from their Melbourne office confirming it. It's likely it was previously an Optus sales number. Now it's used for Australian Passport Office applications checks alerts.

Caller: Text messages received from 0421 267 500 It is legitimate. It is a messaging service (virtual office) used by many organisations. Used by TAFE Qld reminding me to finalise my online enrolment. Used by OPTUS giving me a reference number when I required a technician to fix my landline. Used by Brisbane City Council today reminding me of the Business seminar and networking event that I have registered to attend and to not forget to bring my business cards.

Supposedly the Hobart Passport Office which I have nothing to do with. I am in SA. I believed this was a scam. I called the Hobart Passport office on the number that I got from an internet search which was not the number on the text and after half hour wait, they checked out the supposed reference number they quoted in the text. Much to my surprise I had forgotten that I had gone guarantor on a passport and apparently they can be processed in any state. They logged this and called me back.

I see another of companies and organisations uses this same number, as a text I got came from Brisbane Council.
Unless the number keeps getting port to different companies and organisations all the time?
