Caller: Capital World

Tried to tell me my details were forwarded by ComSec, when I said this is a work number he hung up

Caller asked to speak to a pseudonym I use, so I knew it was a scam. They hung up after I said "oh really, and what would you like to say to them". Presumably the name-number linkage is in some shady database from years ago. Unless google give such things out (gmail account)

Receiving daily calls from this number for the past week, even after blocking it. Answered on one earlier occasion waiting to hear what they would say, sat in silence for 5 seconds before they hung up.

Called but did not leave a message. After seeing reports this is undeniably a scam.

They have called me about 8 times now. I picked up twice and they hung up.

Caller: Some Asian lady

I answered the phone with a simple “hello”. She answered with “is this *my full name*?”. I replied with “uhh, maybe” and she hung up. My guess is, based on other complaints about this number, maybe trying to bait out responses to record and use against you to sign up to something or authorise something. I don’t think those scams are viable much these days though, so it probably isn’t that.

Has been ringing my phone daily for almost a week at around the same time never leaves a message - blocked.

Hung up on answering, number has rung 3 days in a row around the same time.

The Asian lady said my details were provided by ComSec and I can make money by investing in Billion dollar companies about to enter the market in a few months time. I said I wasn't working at the moment and had limited financial capabilities which she said was not an issue and they wanted to send free papers out. When I said again my circumstances she hung up on me.
