My Dad received an SMS from this number to confirm an appointment he never made. It was one of those "Reply "Y" to confirm or "N" to cancel" SMSs.
When I called the number, there was a message that the phone is switched off or not in a service area - this wasn't entirely unexpected as I suspect the number isn't set up to receive calls. When I sent a text to the number (from my phone), I received a reply stating that something went wrong and asking me to either reply from the phone to which the original message was sent or to ring 1800 116 546. I called the number and was asked to enter a conference PIN (which I didn't have), so I was unable to get through to speak to someone. There only possible way of telling them about the error seemed to be to respond to the SMS from Dad's phone with a statement along the lines of "This isn't my appointment" - it's not a "Y" or an "N" response, so maybe it'll be investigated and the error will be found. Dad sent the message and didn't receive any response.
I wonder how many people may be affected by this - not only those being "reminded" of appointments they don't have, but also people who have appointments who are not receiving their reminders
