Asked a few times who the person calling was but they kept evading my questions, until I said I won't answer anything until they stated who they are. They said they were calling in regards to my gas and electricity usage, and even knew what my actual first name is. Obvious scam. This number will be blocked.

phone number rang on "LANDLINE" today at "3:45pm" ( AEST ) Monday 11/11/19 > = ( Pay Respect To "OUR ANZACS" )
being the above number "MOBILE" > 0413 782 791 ? Australian male accent ( Seemingly Youngish voice ? ) left a message only saying , > "HELLO" ? They ended the call and hung up . However, it,s with sincere gratitude to another apparent victim of this negative rated caller that they detailed the bogus entity that is ringing people up with their agenda . Many Australian,s that are of good stock are increasingly receiving calls from "DEBT COLLECTORS " ? Many suspect these calls are a criminal motivated group backed possibly by Deceptive peoples

Caller: CREDIT Corp
CREDIT Corp is the company took me 6 attempts to 2 other people to find out why they called.
Apparently they don't even know what the no call list is.
They want all my personal details to confirm they can talk to me or tell me why they're even calling.
"personal business matter"
Apparently they are a "legitimate company" but I couldn't get further without giving my personal details to them so blocked them.

Not many people know this but thanks to our Constitution, there is a statute of limitations on debts (7 years). Now this is what most people do not know - after 7 years, the debt is cancelled with NO RECORDS. BUT!!! it is imperative that NO correspondence be entered into with said debt collectors ie phone calls, letters, email or by any other means, over this period of time, otherwise the contact (at any time during the initial 7 years) will reset the debt for another 7 years. I have done this - yes, it is all true & works. Ignore all attempts at contact, this is also why they call all hours/days to get a contact, even if you do not talk to them. They are cunning. Block all phone numbers they use. Yes, someone said they try to claim debts you do not owe - this, unfortunately is also true so just ignore & block!! (For 7 years).

Caller: CREDIT CORP
They call continually from a multitude of numbers asking after a person I do not know, they are a pest and do not take no for an answer. They have been calling me for over 5 years which must mean the debt they are chasing is statute barred, so even by their own actions they are scoundrels and criminals. Unfortunately our regulars are toothless tigers and do nothing to stop these scums harassing peoiple.

They attempt to call parents, siblings, cousins, neighbours, work colleagues, anyone even remotely associated with the subject or their lives in the hope they can get to them. What they do is illegal, and they can safely be ignored.
When a bad debt is passed onto a debt collector, the agency purchases the debt for 10 to 20 cents in the dollar and then attempt to collect the FULL amount from the original borrower (plus interest).
However, what most people are unaware of is that once the debt has been purchased by a third party (in this case Credit Corp), the debt has been expunged for the original borrower, and that is the end of the matter. The only signature from the borrower is on a contract between the bank/credit provider and the borrower. There is no signed contract between a debt collector and the original borrower.
Therefore, do not admit or agree to anything a debt collector says on the phone, as they will attempt to trick you into entering into a contract with them (if you're the original borrower they are after) and try to get you on a 'payment plan'.
The statute of limitations means they can only chase you for a maximum of five years, but if you admit to anything or enter into agreement with them (even verbally), then that resets and you can be harangued another five years or until you've satisfied the needs of these vultures.
Your best bet is to avoid them like the plague, legally they have no clout. All they have is intimidation tactics on the phone. Weak!
They are legally only allowed to call 3 times a week or 12 in a month, but that is IF YOU ANSWER. so answer the call & just hang up & they won't be able to call again.
