Matt is some piece of work. The other professional painter we deal with told us he would NEVER ask for money up front for a small job like Matt did, but Matt always had a sob story to tell you.
Always needed to come back to get some more money, first from me, then he would ask my partner even on the same day for more cash. Never saw a receipt, story always changing. We were lucky to get our money back but I advise people to have nothing to do with this blatant conman. It will only leave you with stress, headaches and empty pockets.

For the 3rd time Matthew has promised to repay the money he owes me!!
When you read all the 'reviews' there is no doubt this man has any intention of repaying anyone!! He certainly doesn't realise how scamming people can affect their lives!

Matt pote is a scammer and con man. I don’t know how this guy is still working as a painter, I’ve come across many of his clients over the years and they all say the same thing ‘he took our money and never came back’. The sad thing is, a lot of these people are elderly and vulnerable. Pote is absolutely shameless, he should be locked up, don’t know how he’s been able to get away with it for so many years.

Same Problem. Quoted and begged for payment up front, then blubbed and wanted to borrow money both of which we did.
Got another painter to do some of the work but defaulted on paying him too.
Incomplete work and we are out of pocket about $9000.
Trades on his father's good name and reputation ( Father is a terrific chap but now retired)
Matthew is a shocker. Don't have a bar of him!

Had known the family for many years so had him do a job for a relative. What a mistake. Only did 1/2 a job but took all the money as my relative fell into the trap of him having to pay his mortgage. Our kids had been friends for years and thought he was a straight up fellow but it could not be further from the truth. I am surprised he is not in jail for fraud.

As friends of the family we lent Matt many thousands of dollars to help him out only to learn he conned us and we will probably never get our money back. Wish we'd seen this site beforehand. Do not work for him or use him.

This guy is a thief and scammer don't use him. He ripped off my brother and I've heard of other instances of preying on the elderly and scamming them for cash.

A theif and criminal this bloke not a painter, he should be locked up.

Do not understand why this conman hasn’t been made accountable! He has been conning ‘clients’ for many years and getting away with it!

Didn't see any recent posts about Matt and his criminal activity. Possibly in jail. Or another state. Or he's received help for his gambling addiction. He stole many many thousands of dollars we will never see again. But l imagine his life and his wife and kids lives are ruined now and he is in terrible pain. He was a nice man once. Addiction destroys lives.

Because of his ongoing criminal scamming it seems that the Magistrates Court, and the publicity as a result, will be the best way of dealing with the creature. He will end up paying our legal costs and probably end up behind bars.

We searched the business name when choosing a painter looking for reviews but did not think to search his name. The more people that share their stories the sooner this Criminal face justice.

Matt pote is a sleezy conman that makes inappropriate comments to young women and rips off anyone he can, with his sob story routine.
Reading all these comments it’s pretty obvious that he is getting worse.
I don’t understand why he hasn’t been locked up. Hopefully Karma will visit him soon!

M & A Pote Master Painters - Please Note; Mathew Pote is not a member of the Master Painters Assoc, and they are not happy with him associating his business name with them. They are looking for him too. Unfortunately, I was a friend of the family who was conned out of $30,000. I actually have a recording of Mathew admitting that he still owes $25,000. I am willing to go to the police station to assist with any investigation if that helps. Also, I know Alison Pote very well, and she knew all about his gambling, and him conning people, but she certainly didn't mind sending him to do shopping, paying for their household needs including private school tuition, and holidays etc; so she didn't really care where the money came from until his behavior became public. I spoke to Alison about my situation on soooo many occasions, and again when the house was up for sale. Yes, Alison acted all sorry AGAIN, and promised to pay me back when the house was sold. But I never heard from her. Alison also blocked me from emailing her and from calling her as well :(

I met Matt outside the pokies smoking area and he said he would paint my fence for $30.00 per hour. I must say I didn't know I was getting conned but thought if he even does 1 or 2 days work it would be good. I have read all the reviews and I'm really am not surprised, I too lent him money which I knew I would probably never see again. The paint job was so bad I will have to re-do it, but hey for $30p/h who can complain. I don't think I will get my money back, but still cheap for a crappy job.
