I was the owner of Rossline Pumps & Machinery Pty Ltd - Toys for Big Boys was our registered trademark with two retail outlets on the Central Coast of NSW and Hexham in Newcastle. This business started from a double garage at Swan Bay by Ross & Caroline Johnson as Johnson Products Distributors in 1984 however the name was changed to avoid confusion with Johnson & Johnson. One of our major suppliers was Power Machinery Pty Ltd located in Ferrars Street South Melbourne in 1987 as a reseller of their products. This was a manufacturer of Australian made electric, petrol and diesel air compressors, as well as petrol and diesel generators. We also sold their locally manufactured POWAMAC electric, diesel and petrol pumps using their own sand cast alloy molds and Koshin pump casings from Japan. Industrial machinery included bench grinders, power hacksaws, bench and pedestal drill presses all coming from Taiwan at the time, plus Kincrome and Gedore hand tools. We were retailers of their imported quality products including SIP, MeccAlte, ANI, Hi-Lift American farm jacks, Koshin Japanese rotary drum pumps etc. Many items carried their own brand name of "POWERMAC". I quickly adopted their slogan contained on the rear cover of any Power Machinery catalogue which stated "The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of cut price is forgotten". How very true! Rossline sold a massive range of power tools including Ryobi, Makita, Elu, Bosch, Proxxon, Metabo, Stayer, Hitachi, Wolf, Festo, Elektra-Beckum, Milwaukee, Porter Cable, Carbatec, and Atlas Copco to name a few. We were warranty and service agents having up to nine employees. We indented direct from Kango in England the 2526A electric depth sensitive screwdriver for Nu-Steel Kit Homes with whom we had an Australia wide supply contract. This resulted in us becoming the largest reseller for Kango tools here in Oz. The business attended the National Field Days at Orange, Ag-Quip at Gunnedah, Henty Field Days, FarmFest at Toowoomba which kept our business in the limelight. The business ceased trading in 2004 however I am now operating The Belt Specialist which specializes in the supply of replacement drive belts for power tools with more than 850 various models listed on eBay and we post world wide to more than 40 countries.
