This scam doing the rounds I have been called several times This group is cold calling people saying they are from the "National Rebate Initiative". They say that this is an Australian Government initiative. FACT 1: There is no such initiative from the government. FACT 2: There is no company or trading name registered with this name. They will ask you for details of whether you are a homeowner under 58, and how much you earn. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR DETAILS. If you do, they will: 1) Tell you that you can save $8,000 – $15,000 per year. and 2) Ask to send someone round to your house. This appointment will be about investing in property – and losing money in it (negative gearing). When quizzed about how they got my phone number, they say they use a 'register of all homeowners in Australia'. This company (if it is one) is NOT adhering to the National DO NOT CALL Register. Don’t give them any information

Persistently calling even though i say i'm not interested and don't have time to talk. Some sort of Australian Government helping us with rebate on home investment. Don't be pulled in. Not sure how they got my number?!?

If they are calling and hanging up, they are checking to see that the number is active (someone owns the number and will pick up) in order to sell your number to other companies. Do not pick up unknown numbers for this reason.

A company purporting to be acting on behalf of five agencies, contact details obtained from the homeowners database- they pay for access to this. This contact point is trawling for the apparent 9% of taxpayers who can be given a tax refund to use to offset other debts. Absolute rubbish, the woman on the phone had little idea of what she was talking about, could not answer what associated costs were, told me I could perhaps benefit even if I had no debts. She hung up on me within 5 minutes as she did not like me questioning her. Another bottom dwelling scum consumer.
