Caller: I don't know

Called me at 8.33 pm (after telemarketing cut-off times) I hung up on the first call and it immediately rang again - could be an automated calling machine. How did they get my number?
Called number got an answer machine - woman's voice - "Can't get to the phone right now - leave a message I will get back to you" - seems to be a normal mobile.
