I have also had a call and although they are very convincing have refused to pay $329.95 for 3 year technical support. Guess if my computer crashes like they claim it's my problem not theirs!

Just got a similar call, but can't say what number it was. Claimed to be local, but when I clearly asked for details of the company and their phone number, they just hung up on me.

This number was used by some Indians using the Microsoft telephone scam, where they cold call people and say they are from Microsoft and offer to "fix" your computer remotely. He said he was from "Techno Solutions a Pyramids Group of Company" a Gold Certified Partner of Microsoft, and wanted to download a remote access program to access our computer to fix viruses and other problems that he knew were there. There is a real Pyramid Techno Solutions Inc that ARE partners of Microsoft, but these people are not them.

Same, same. Heavily accented individual on very poor line. Used the same 'credentials' and claimed to have got my number from my ISP. He was also able to recite my name and address - straight from the phone book, I guess. A bit disarming, but I didn't believe that the ISP would release this type of info against an IP address, if indeed they can trace dynamic IP addresses. For mine, a real scam and if it happens again he'll need a deep knowledge of English to follow my comments!

Contacted by individual with strong Indian accent telling us our computer was at risk of crashing & he could solve the problem for us by renewing our Windows firewall support system, when I questioned him and asked if I could ring him back he was very reluctant to give his number. In the end gave his number & gave his name as David Johnson. He told me to google Techno solutions & I would find they were a genuine partner of Microsoft. (True, but this gentleman is certainly not genuine) Wanted me to pay $120 for a 2 year subscription, the call went no further.
