Caller: Claimed to be the NBN Claimed to be the NBN and upgrading my copper connection to fibre in the next few days, and needing to send a package of equipment. Also provided the name of the technician who would arrive at the appointed time ( 'Oliver Lee' with NBN-ID: NBN7759001 ). They even quoted the correct NBN contact number 1800 687 626 - which we as retail customers can't actually use! It was toward the end of the call that they mentioned there would be a minor fee of $6.95 (!), so they wanted a credit card number. NBN doesn't contact retail customers directly via telephone. If an upgrade is occurring in your area they will send you a letter, or your Retail Service Provider (RSP) will contact you to give you the option to upgrade. My area is scheduled to receive the copper to fibre upgrade in March 2025 (according to the authoritative NBN website ). They sound very convincing, but it is a SCAM !

Caller: someone from this number with a South Asian accent Asked questions about some alleged recent overseas transaction on my credit card. They weren't prepared to provide any authentication, so I just hung up.

Second time this number has called within a 2 week time frame, both times a recorded female voice, Olivia from the Commonwealth Bank indicating a transaction had been requested on my visa debit card. Press 1 if fraudulent or Press 2 if okay. Call coming from Ringwood. I don't have a CBA Visa Card, will block number again
