Caller: Just ringing and then nothing

"Telstra advises that the number you have dialled is disconnected."

My comment - We have a sh*t phone system when unused telephone number can be hijacked so easily. This is about the 10th such occurrence in the past 12 months.

My speculation is that our 'open' telephony system is now too open and any Tom, d*ck or fraudster can avail themselves thereof and cold call thousands of people from anywhere in the world anonymously.

When, on previous occasions I tried chasing up such a number, with Optus, with Telstra and even with the Ombudsman, 'NOTHING COULD E FOUND OR DONE.

I am so happy that our politicians made the phone market available to anyone. Now we have the consequences. We pay, the fraudsters play!
