Rang twice in the space of 15 minutes. An app on my phone that blocks potential spam numbers silenced both calls so I didn’t even know at the time that the phone rang. I can’t find any information about these numbers.

Caller: Dean from AGL(?) Had a few missed calls from this number. Eventually picked one up, Dean claimed to be from AGL advising me that my plan has been modified so that I get better rates, as per the latest government/Energy Regulator guidelines. I didn't have to give any information, just listen. Seemed a bit weird so I checked AGL sites for known scams, nothing matched. I then called AGL on their official number and got put through to a customer resolution officer, who confirmed that it was a legitimate call - due to call centre volumes, AGL has outsourced some outbound call work. So, nothing to worry about - NOT A SCAM.

Caller: Scammer Claimed to be AGL asking for all my details as they have a cheaper plan for me. Kept avoiding my questions asking to prove if she’s from AGL

Scam call claiming to be from AGL. When asked what's my account number they did not know. So I put a stainless steal lid on the phone and banged it with a wooden spoon. They cut the call.

This is a scam! They called today saying they were AGL (who I use as my provider) asked me to confirm my details. I called AGL and they said it was not them, they were very believable.

I rang AGL and they said the opposite, as they would have a record of the phone call on file, which they didn’t. Plus, they always send emails about these promotions and would never call you directly.

The phone number is definitely scam. I rang AGL and they confirmed that the phone number is not affiliated with them.

Be extremely careful this is a scam. They are getting better at trying to persuade you they are legit by using company phone numbers - eg AGL Anytime which has been mentioned before. Definitely a scam, block the number if you are able to.

Caller: AGL outbound (customer retention) AGL customer retention, trying to get you onto "special saver" plan for utilities. Legit call, if you call AGL on their normal number they have a record of the outbound call. Email takes a while to arrive (about 3 days). When they called, asked about account number which they could correctly say, as well as other services on account. Asked for last name and address (they stated suburb) on call.

Caller: Philip from AGL Called me claiming he is from AGL, said he is offering a 20% instead of 5% off on my AGL electricity base rate. 'Explained' the detail. Asked me if anyone in the household is on life saving device to which I said no. Proceeded to ask for my last name and address to 'confirm' if I am the accont holder. I said, it is saved in my AGL account, thats when he realised I don't believe him. He game me the last 4 digits of my AGL account number, my email domain and my birth year to let me know that he is from AGL. I still did not believe him, so asked him to send me the details he spoke to me just now to my provided email and I can look over it. He said okay, thank you and hung up

Caller: (03) 9649 4909 Had a call from this number clearly from a call centre. Sounded like someone from the Philippines perhaps - said he was calling for AGL, knew my name and the suburb where I lived. Did the spiel about a a new plan, no extra cost, not locked in but cheaper. I said I'd have a look at it on their (the AGL) website and he hung up on me.

Rang me once or twice daily for a few days. Never left a message. I rang the number back once and it was immediately and weirdly engaged / disconnected. Finally checked the number here and will block now after reading the comments.

Knew my name, asked to speak to me. Claimed from AGL, advised they are going to change my plan to cheaper rates, that I don't need to do anything, he just needs to read spiel/brochure and would then send an email confirming offer. I advised him I don't have time to listen to spiel as I am at work and he hung up straight away.
