Stated QBE which I have Insurance with.

It sounded dodgy, but is legit.  I rang QBE, and the number is one of theirs and they are conducting a data clean-up.

IT appeared to be a hox call trying to obtain personal details,claiming to be an insurance company

Got a call from that number, didn't pick up and they did not leave a message.

I am subscriber of QBE Insurance that may confirm Jack's comment.

I got a call from a female who stated they were from QBE insurance company. I didnt give any details and asked for a number to call back on. They gave the number as 1800 243 464, which was answered by a man saying "Hello QBE Insurnce".
