third party debt collectors are illegally soliciting funds even it were for an old AGL bill. Unless they have a contract with you, you dont ever have to give them any money. Ask them to show you proof to the contract with yours and their signature on the same contract. They never can coz there isn't one, lol!!! Never ever pay a debt collector, ever!

can you give us the name of the collection agency? Maybe i could look them up and ring them on a different number or email, fax etc and find out? Wouldn't that be easier than ringing every tom, d*ck and harry? I mean i'm not going to ring every company that has supplied a service loan etc...imagine the waits on hold for every call? what a waste of time if you ask me. If it's really a pain in the a**, get the number blocked. haven't heard from them so far. Too bad for me if it is debt recovery.

annoyed

I get this too, no idea who it could be. Doubt it's AGL they have my current address so I would be getting their letters.
I don't care who it is, I just want it to stop. It's so annoying.

I'm planning on barring the number tomorrow.

I'm no dummy. And I thought for sure I cleared all my bills before leaving Aus for the UK. I am a VERY organised person, voted "most likely to become a 'Daily Planner Diary'" at my high school. After I got the call I managed to track down the Girl that moved into my apartment in Melb. Surprise surprise... there were 3 letters from AGL, including a final demand. I had no other contact from AGL or anyone else until the 039225200 calls. Believe it or not, don't you think it'd be worth doing a ring around of your old bill-senders anyway, just incase? Might take an hour or two, get over it.Outstanding bills can happen to anyone. SO THERE!Trust me and 'Joe Rossi' on this one.

I received the same called from this number so many times! Every single time I pick up and said "hello, hello...HELLO" NO ONE answered ALSO on my mobile phone it said "called ended" 5 sec or so EVERY SINGLE TIME! It wasn't even connected for me to wait for them to transfer me to any operator or person or computer or anything. It simply just hangs up every time I pick up. So if it?s a debts collecting agency like some of you said then they are EXTREMLY smart to keep hanging up on the people they want money from!

I just received one of these calls. They ended the call when I picked up, and no answer when I called back.

me too

I don't know the name of the agency. I live in the UK and at the time only had about $1.50 left on my Aus sim when they called. We were disconnected after about 20 seconds as I was paying roaming charges for the call.  They  also called at 4AM local time so my recollection of the conversation is a bit fuzzy. I picked up a bit about 'AGL' and 'outstanding payment', then credit ran out. I didn't catch the name on the company. That's why I called the new tenant in my unit. There were indeed 3 demand letters from AGL. Coincidence?
I don't know why they are playing hard to get with their tricky telephone line connection. I had the same trouble for months until one day their call finally worked, only to be sabotaged by my diminished credit balance.
Sorry I can't be of more help to you guys. Thats all the info I have.
