I just got a phone call from this number, they said they are from "energy direct". I asked who they were, the gentleman explained that due to increasing energy prices they were calling to see what energy provider company would be the best in my area. I asked then how they got my phone number because it is a private number. His response was it was from a "database in Melbourne". I was concerned and asked him if he could give me the details of this "database" so I can get in contact with them, and he hung up on me. I called back immediately and I got some automated answering machine message saying that the number I dialled is not in service.

Several calls from this number, 5 in two days I think. Figured out how to get rid of them. Go along with their spelling until the last second then when they're about others close just say 'just kidding, I have no intention if signing up. I don't live at that adress and I'm not an account holder. She was like' you wasted my time' I asked how that felt. I said if they keep calling I'm just going to keep playing games with them or if they don't want their time in wasted, remove my number from the database. So far so good.

I’ve reported this number to scamwatch. He originated ballet claimed he was from an energy company then switched half way to say he was calling about a $500 gift voucher I’d won from Aldi. He had my name, old home address and my phone number but couldn’t explain where he’d gotten my information from. Kept claiming I’d signed up for it.

Report them to telstra or your telco first as distressing nuisance calls from an unidentified caller who is using your childs name, report them to the Police as you feel personally threatened and the safety of your children is threatened and report them to the Telecommunications Ombudsman. Also Discus it with your local federal MP indicating that callers like this should NOT be allowed to have HIDDEN numbers or INVALID numbers. Their phone numbers should be required to be searchable along with the address that number is physically connected to. They have NO RIGHT to silent of hidden phone numbers.
These a**holes should not be allowed to exist. They do because you complain here but you don't follow correct reporting protocol. Not saying that you shouldn't report them her as this data base is bloody good evidence that these people are a serious problem. Just include a link to this data base in your complaints.
Don't worry, they are starting to phone me and I will be doing all of the above.
Funny story: I lead a call center guy to phone me and threaten me weekly for 3 months, I had the call traced finally. Never heard from him again. There was enough evidence for him to have been seriously prosecuted. Naturally I was not given the opportunity to find out for myself who he relay was. But sweet justice! Anyone can do it. Just get a call trace service put on your number ( you need to give justifiable reason). I personally think that where they start using names of children in your family is bloody good reson!

I got called by this number 3 times last week and 6 times today! I have blocked the number but it still comes up in my phone log so I can see how many times they ring. Considering I am on the Do Not Call register I am so frustrated, especially as the number doesn't answer if you ring them back

I’ve had 4 phone calls from this company in 2 days and am quite frankly sick of it. Whenever I ask where they got my details I get hung up on. I don’t want to be paying for these bs calls.

I had the same repeat hang ups after I had identified who I was. On receiving another call from a similar (03) number I answered with a simple Hello (sex indeterminate tone). The caller then asked for my 9 year old son who had registered to win a Coles gift card for $500 online. When I continued to be vague and ask again where they were from they started to id themselves, then hung up on me.

Called 3 times in a 4 hour period. Keep hanging up when answered. Now on my "to be blasted with the air horn" list for next time.
