This number is from a bunch of fraudsters seeking credit card details. Beware!

Posing as being from BigPond & stating internet compromised by IP theft. Request you download program for them to gain remote access to your computer. Scam!

called Telstra to report this scam and was asked to fill in this misuse form as well - just in case anyone else wants to!

Just received the same call from someone who couldn't speak English too well with exactly the same story. He was happy to give me the phone number when I said I didn't believe him, even gave an extension number of 701 !! Why are there so many sad people out there trying to exploit the unaware ???

Called me this afternoon saying that our internet usage has gone up to 20-22 hours per day. He then said that it was getting hacked into from the US. He then asked if he could get a technician to our house in the morning. I said no that I would have to talk to my husband. He then proceeded to give me his number and guess what number he gave. He said his name was Robin, and kept emphasising that he was from TELSTRA BIG POND, which made me suspicious. I then proceeded to call our son in law who is in IT and he said it was odd that hey wanted to send a technician. After checking it out he confirmed that it was a scam. The sad part about it is that many people will fall for this scam, but if we all alert as many of those that we can we can hopefully put these morons out of business.

same thing, someone called my mum and said "your bigpond acc is being accessed from Iran/Afganistan and USA". Mum took the number and said "My son will call you back" . I googled the number, found this site and told mum she did the right thing by calling me first. I really hope no other Mums and Dads out there fall for this scam.
PS. I am about to call them back and give them access to my Ubuntu OS running in Virtual Box and see what they do :)

Said they were from Telstra Bigpond and wouldn't even give up when I told them I'd heard about their scam and what they're doing is illegal: "But ma'am, how can you say that? I'm from Telstra Bigpond." Hang up!
