I just recieved a call from this Australian Council Bank Reclaim Department. They could not tel me which banks I had banked with to be overcharged. Both people I spoke with were indian. Their people started getting frustrated with me when I took control of the call. And again when I asked for a supervisor who i did get to speak to. However, she was indian as well, very hard to understand too. They tried to get me to go to the Post Office to get sending and recieving forms from the Western Union counter. Huh?????? This counter does not deem familiar to me at my Post Offices and I have access to 3 of them. They could not confirm what they were claiming in writing. I told them off for trying to get me to do all this running around if the money was truely mine I shouldn't have to do any of that and that they should just be sending me a check in the mail seeing as they have my address. If our tax dept. can operate in this way to return money then they certainly could too. I don't think i will hold my breath waiting for the cheque because they hung up on me. Ha ha!

On 27 July 2010 my wife received the a caller named JASON MAXWELL claiming to be from the 'Australian Council' and gave us his phone number (03) 9028 0018. The reason for his call was for overcharge bank late fees and offered us $3114 due to recession. Asked if my wife was going immediately to the post office, but she said she was going tomorrow. He adivses her to ask for 2 Western Union forms a Receiving and Sending form. Deposit $150 into account to open and said that we will receive that money back in 15minutes after they wire the money through.,.. blah blah blah.
At first my wife was excited about the news and called me at work. When I heard the nature of it, it sounded shady. I told her not to do anything until we've checked up on them and did our homework.
I got the number for comsumer affairs 1300 558 181) and western union 1800 173 833) before I was going to call back so I could tell this Jason that I was going to call the agencies to help verify the nature of this transaction.
Thursday 29 July 2010 am I called (03) 9028 0018 the number was disconnected. Lol, this explains everything. So off they go to trap the next Australian Victim.
SCAM, SCAM, SCAM... Warning to all out there. Our heart goes out to all that fall for this. Take care God bless,
Cam from Cranbourne.
