Caller: Detector Inspector I don't know what that guy is on about being a shop front from ASIO. This is a totally legitimate company. I have been dealing with them for three years. As the name suggest Detector Inspector - they check / inspector smoke alarms. My Landlord through the estate agent come and check my smoke alarms. They call arrange a time convenient to me - they arrive on time, replace the batteries (even though they are hard wired), check they are working and then leave. They would be in my place 5 to 10 minutes at the most .

Caller: Detector Inspector I can't believe that in the middle of a pandemic (COVID-19) this company still thinks it is ok to enter people's homes and spread Coronavirus. It doesn't feel legal to me, but us poor Victorians are forever in a stage 4 lockdown. Who knows were these people (technicians) have been, they are potentially major spreaders of COVID-19 from house to house. They should be shutdown during the pandemic like so many other business are. I can't believe they are still allowed to operate and are still considered an essential service, LOL. What a joke. People's health (COVID-19) prevention is more important than a bloody smoke alarm service.

Harassing me for more than 6 months - multiple messages a day despite blocking on my phone - goes straight to voice mail. Don't know how they got my contact number, but was advised by my real estate agent (but when I checked with my agent - said they were not contracted to my agent). Has informed these people not to ring me anymore but they just keep ringing. So unethical! Makes me think that the reviews on the internet are driven by their own people.

Caller: Detector Inspector I don't understand why people are complaining about this company. They are a legitimate company who are usually contracted by a real estate agent to service hard-wired smoke alarms in rental properties. If a battery replacement is required, it is not possible for a "regular" person to replace the batteries in hard-wired units because they use something akin to a NiCad or Li-ion battery, not the usual 9 volt or similar in a smoke alarm not hard-wired to the power circuit.
They ring to make an appointment, they are considered an essential service because smoke alarms are compulsory in victoria and smoke alarms need to be checked regularly. If you don't want to let them in during lockdown that's your choice and you can arrange your appointment after lockdown is lifted, i.e. now.
The service people are always masked up, practice good hygiene and safe distancing.
BTW - under rental property law in Victoria, any appliance that is provided by a landlord in a rental property that breaks down or requires servicing is considered an urgent repair, even if you can work around it somewhat. It is the landlord's responsibility to ensure that all appliances within the property are in working order at all times.

Caller: Detector Inspector Legitimate but incredibly inefficient and disorganised company that cancels appointment after appointment at no notice.
Landlords… do your tenants a favour and get your smoke alarm and mandatory electrical checks done by an alternative service provider.

Smoke alarm was to be checked by them, as per our rental company. Since completing it they have spam called me non-stop for other services that my rental company have not requested.

Caller: Detector inspector While this is a legitimate company unfortunately they are involved in shifty practices. I received notification from them via text, email and phone call that my realestate agent had organised a gas safety inspection at my property. Couple things here; 1: there is no gas at my property, 2: my realestate has been using the same company for the smoke alarm and electrical safety check in the 5 years I have lived here and 3: I usually receive a work order email from the realestate before I hear from the inspection company to arrange an appointment. I have taken screen shots of everything and sent it to my property manager who has advised me that they did not in any way contact or pass my details on to Detector Inspector. So while this is a legitimate company there is no reason they should have contacted me and it's obvious that they have deceptive business practices.

Caller: Detector inspector HARASSMENT AND INCOMPETENCE at its very best. Funny how most of the "anonymous" remarks are about how "nice" and "efficient" this organisation is. The companymust be making these comments themselves to take away from the fact that there are otherwise only negative comments about them.
