These guys have called at least 5 times in recent months. Today I asked for a phone number and where he was calling from and surprise surprise I was told exactly the same as all you others!! Same phone number and calling from Melbourne. Can anything be done about this?

First call from them was 3 days ago. The 3 second delay was followed by a foreign voice with the speil. I asked the caller what made her think that I had microsoft & she answered that it was showing on her screen and that my computer had problems. I said that this was a scam, which was emphatically denied. When I asked how I could have these microsoft problems if I don't have microsoft, she replied there must be an error in the system & hung up. Surprised to get another call yesterday from them. When I said I didn't have microsoft , she asked if I had an Apple. Told her I wasn't going to answer questions from a scammer so she abruptly hung up. Today another call! Twice I asked her was it microsft she worked for -yes both times. Was she in Australia? yes. Where? Pardon? Where, Sydney? Melbourne? She said Melbourne, and asked if I was in front of the computer. I said no, but if she would give me their number I would ring them back. When she gave a number so readily, I knew that (03) 9018 7738 must be part of the scam. By giving an oz number some people will be tricked into thinking they are genuine. What does one do?

Ditto Ditto and Ditto - same story, slight variations (very similar spiel to Kelleigh of 20 Dec 2011) but I guess it pays to have a suspicous mind.  Number of things sent off alarm bells in my mind - "How many computers do you have" - HA! Like I'm going to tell you that...Even when I called the "(03) 9018 7738" number the guy who answered there insisted it was all legit and didn't try to get out of it when I said I was recording the call so maybe they are getting bolder.Again (like others) I cannot believe I gave them the 20 minutes I did but what sealed the deal for me as a scam is when he asked me to download a Remote Access .exe program from www.ammyy.com - LIKE I'M THAT STUPID!!!!!Good luck to all with recovery efforts - hope no long term damage is done!

Very persistent and very convincing . What a fool I was to be taken in by them.
The company on the so called program was Xion Tecnology.

Yesterday I received a call from a fellow with a thick Indian accent.  The speil he gave was similar to the above comments.   At one stage I said I was busy and to call me back in an hour. He implied that his company was working for Microsoft.   I then rang up Microsoft.  They said they did not know of 24sevenmypchelp, but it sounded like a scam.  When he rang back he denied he said he was working for Microsoft.  The 2 phone calls lasted an hour and the end when I finally made it clear that I was not interested.  He said 'Then why did you waste my time you mother f-------' and promptly hungup.I was  pleased I upset him and wasted his time - the scumbag.

Over scammer calls - Microsoft etc

I answered the phone to an 'Indian' sounding male, named 'Eric Jones' from Technical Support for Microsoft - 3 second delay before call kicked in/could hear numerous other operators in the background/reading same spiel off of a sheet. He said that the department had picked up that some images downloaded onto our computer could have corrupted the hard drive and if the computer wasn't cleaned, we could lose information etc. He asked if i was in front of my computer. Told him we don't use Microsoft and that call was being traced etc. He was adamant he was genuine and quoted a 'Melbourne' phone number to call back to verify. Ph (03) 9018 7738 was the number quoted - This is the 15th similar type call we have had since Xmas 2010. Have had the same thing with the operators claiming to be from Windows and also a company 'Tech Optimisers' - They are all conns!!! Don't be fooled by it!!!
