Yes they rang my mum’s number and i spoke to them. Same story. Technical issue, breach on their computer server and they’ll help you to fix “the problem”
theyll make you log in to your computer and then log in to teamviewer and swap controls on your computer. They will first show you the “eventvwr” on your run command.. point out that there are heaps of commotion going on on your software applications (mine got to 2,000+) apparently this should only be 20. They’ll ask you to delete them by rightclick and delete. Once there’s no option to delete, they’ll say that your computer has totally/definitely been corrupted and they’re there to help you.
then they’ll show you how to go to command prompt and will ask to type “netstat” and will show the “local ip addresses” then the “foreign ip address” (that is apparently using your internet, as they say) and the “status”
At this point, they’ll indicate that “hackers” are using your internet and the foreign ip addresses are the hackers..
Then they’ll ask you to go to “validator”
W3c Validator website Then they’ll ask you to check your email address whether it has been hacked or not.
Then your facebook
Then your online banking
You’ll get results that will be “warnings and errors”
Then once again they’ll tell you how to fix it.. by asking you to log in to your email..
Remember that they’re logged in to your computer via teamviewer..
So they have controls of your computer..
At this point, i said that why would i log in if they’re still controlling and viewing my computer?
Then the indian lady (Jennifer Wilson with a Telstra ID # D11542 by the way) said that she’ll be fired if she writes down confidential matters from you and that she’s the only one who can view the information and she’s aware of the privacy/confidentiality policies of telstra
She asked me to log in to my email address and i said, before i do that let me view your telstra ID first in the teamviewer app.. she couldnt and she passed it back to the first person who rang me, indian guy with name of Peter Wilson (with Telstra ID # D4482700)
My brother (who’s an IT graduate restarted my computer and the teamviewer application got disconnected and they cant see anything on my computer anymore (as teamviewer refreshes your password everytime you close and open it)
My brother spoke to the indian guy and he said he knows everything.. when he couldnt get the answers right, we just hang up. Then he rings again and then tried to convince my brother, but we just cut the line..
I tried ringing this phone and no one answers. Then i search in google and found this forum..
In short, this is a scam and its happening within australia.. im just curious as to whether telstra is doing something about it???

Caller: Jenny Wilson (Telstra supposedly) I have had two calls in the last week to my mobile saying exactly what you have described. First was a male, second a female named Jenny Wilson, who provided a contact number of 1844 5936 8211. Both with strong Indian accent.
I'd eat my hat if these people are from Telstra.

Caller: “Telstra” Jenny Wilson, also spoke to Lima Wilson and James all with strong Indian accents. I played along with it pretending that my computer couldn’t find the teamviewer or ultra viewer sites. Then they said my computer must be very badly hacked and that I needed to get google play cards ASAP to help catch the hackers. After I mentioned that it sounded like a scam and I needed to call Telstra on the above number they hung up. After 4 calls in 2 days that’s hopefully the end of it

Caller: Telstra Technical Support ... or so they say!! I got Lisa Wilson today.... has been quiet for a few weeks, but they must have got to the bottom of the list and started calling everyone again!!!! Same scam just 7 months later. Lisa got abusive today because I would not co operate, I told her I was on my computer and I worked for a international corporate company with top notch security (true) and she was a bit dazzled, did not know what to say. Then I questioned her name, and said that Lisa Wilson is very Australian and she has a strong accent and I did not think that was her name, she got angry again.... in the meantime my husband rang the number and it said it was not connected, I told Lisa this and she hung up. Thanks to this forum I have the names of all the 'Wilson's' and teamviewer app..... it will make the next call from these people so much fun!!!!

Caller: Eric Wilson Eric Wilson (Telstra technical department) called, he insisted that he's from Telstra (as I questioned who he was and what he wanted). He had my name and address (as I asked if he knew who he was talking to). This wasn't enough to convince me. I asked what the problem was and he kept saying that my IP address is not secure. I told him that if that's the case then my internet provider should advise me of what I need to do, not Telstra. He said but Telstra provides the internet to all of Australia, I told him no it doesn't. I asked him to then send me instructions by email which he refused. I asked him for his details and I told him i'll call him back (Eric Wilson, Job ID D-705954). I hung up.
I called my provider and as I expected it is a SCAM. If you have an insecure IP address your provider will notify you.
BE AWARE - DO NOT log onto your computer and follow their instructions.
I tried calling him back to tell him not to ever bother me again as I will contact the police, but he did not answer the call... I wonder why????!!!!!

Similar story to described above. I got a call from 0424 412 563. The guy ("Eric Wilson") tried to get me to carry out certain instructions on my computer, because they ("Telstra"??) had "detected people trying to hack into my internet" etc etc. I was suspicious and said I would call them back later. He gave me the number: (03) 9016 0518 I didn't ring back, but it all seemed like a scam to me.

Very dodgy sounding indian woman claiming to be from Telstra technical department, wanting to help me address some hacking issue on my telstra internet account. Asked me to go to a computer so she could assist by directing me to a website. The suspicious alarm bells rang loudly in my head so I asked for phone number to call back on. She gave me this number along with jennifer wilson job id d11542. I did not call but googled instead to find the information listed here by others. No doubt if I rang I would get her, or someone next to her answering as Telstra.

Caller: Jenny Smith (Indian voice) I had many problems on my computer from broadband. She would help me to sort it out. She quite readily gave me her name??? and this phone number when I asked for a number to verify her story. I told her I had a very good virus scanner that would find a problem, but it was not a problem with a virus, madame, it was much worse. I told her I was having lunch and I wasn't interested and hung up.
Today I had a similar call from Harry (Indian voice) from the Technical Dept. of Telstra asking how madame was today. I told him I was well and asked for his Telstra number. He hung up!
