Someone called me today (from Sydney he said) to advise me that I have been selected for a Tax refund of $7400 under a new scheme that has been recently started by Julia Gillard for honest Australians who pay taxes regularly.

He suggested that I should call his head-office on (03) 9016 0245 to start the process for getting this money.

Seems like another scam to me where this phone number is probably involved.

what a joke! A government 'policy' that doesn't exist is apparently donating $7400 into my account although the tax payer of the house is my dad..... I wonder what they've been smoking!

Basically the same info from the same number (03) 9016 0245
Caller tried to tell me that the Australian Tax Office (ATO) wanted to give me $7,400 (for being a god tax payer) and that I should phone this number to claim the money.
The money is to be used for non-illegal activities such as purchasing a car or renovating the house. The ATO have been notified.

I SAID OK OK OK OK & TO END WITH THANK YOU..LOL

similar story to Vikram but as curisity we went further and called the NO.Someone called me today to advise me that I have been selected for a Tax refund of $7400 under a new scheme that has been recently started by Julia Gillard for honest Australians who pay taxes regularly.

We knew that it is very likely to be scam. We called and ended up asking our bank account. They would pay only the money if we first donate to UNICEF. The strange thing is they even did not have our record as a regualr UNICEF donator.

same thing here, I was excited for a minute. Once they said, I'll have to donate $300 for UNICEF I told them to take $300 and give me the rest. Again, they went blah! blah! and I hung up.

The Caller" John William as he introduce himself called  from ATO Department Sydney explaining about that " You have won $7000 from  the ATO. The award is given out to 8 states to 1200 people because they have paid their Returns and Bills at right time. He gave a Three Digite Applicaton number and said to ring his supervisor regarding claiming the reward amount. On ringing the above number some one picked up and said the supervisor is busy and asked us to call 10 minutes later. In the very next minute after I hung my mobile this guy by the name Simon who said himself to be ATO officer called and explained about the award and to whom it is given. He talked about the unicef and said that in order to claim the reward one need to do one time full payment of $450 via western union and asked me to go to near by western union or post office and give the call back the moment i reach there. He said once the payment is done he will give the number and the reward will get deposited into my designated bank account within 20 min.
I think something is fishy..

hi ,
john william called me today @12.30pm, saying i won $7400 for paying my bills on time.
he gave me form a141 to be filled and this phone number (03) 9016 0245.
i knew this is a scam , it is unbelievable ato handing out cash prices.
so i rang this number, nobody answered.
then few minutes later, got a call again, Brian from ato this time as he said.
i asked him mate since when ato started working on saturdays, he said the work load
is too much. i asked ok give me ur email id, he did not give.
so this is obviously a scam.
The crime stoppers should look into this matter seriously.
I advise people not to give any of their personal information on phones,
should report this matter to police / crime stoppers.
Regards
