Hubby just had a phone call from a fellow with a strong Indian accent, claiming that someone was using our internet to download large files from an unknown location. He was asking to access our computer to be able to locate where this person was and theoretically stop them. If we didnt co-operate they would have to cancel our internet immediately. The man got quite flustered with my hubby when he asked for his contact phone number and ID (we were also given this number (03) 9015 4912), and offered to stay on the line whilst hubby called him back to verify he was from Telstra (hubby reminded him that he had to HUNG UP to be able to call him back lol). Reported to Telstra, who couldnt care one bit, just told us to report to Scamwatch

I've had three calls this week and the one this morning was from Alex Grey who was very, very good and insistent. Couldn't give me my account number as he was in Technicians department not Accounts. I told him I had a Telstra Technician here connecting me to the NBN and I hung up. Would you believe he rang back asking why I had hung up and he only wanted 5 minutes to stop the hacking of my computer. I told him I would get the technician to check it out and hung up again. Would you believe he rang back yet again but I left it on answerphone and have heard nothing since.

Similar to above, very difficult to understand them with all the background noise. Wanted me to type in NETSTAT into my terminal. I asked them all kinds of questions then I asked them to hang on whilst I checked my 3D printer. A few minutes of silence and then I could hear them asking if I was still there, getting rather concerned that I'd disappeared. So,I kept the conversation going for a bit longer and saying that I would be back in a few more minutes as I had to check the printer again. They told me my printer was ok and that the issue was with my computer/internet LOL I asked them again to hold on whilst I checked the printer again, I even played some RRR for them . Gotta have a bit of fun if you can :-) I asked if I could have a number to ring back and they gave me this one. Just play with em if you can be bothered and if you have the time. Sadly they did get a friend of mine to the tune of $500.00. a**holes.

These Grubs are still at it, I believe They have reported to the Providers and the ACMA as well.? You would wonder how long it takes to track them down, Telstra and the others have the capability to do this if they want to.?

I have received a similar call many times from girls and boys but accent is Arabic not Indian. Than asked her/him the STD number of Melbourne, she said 0390. I have been getting this call since last one year......Even, I have informed the police about it they said we cannot help you in this matter and provided some other contacts.....

claimed he was from telstra and my computer had become a zombie and uploading a lot of data - gave this number , his name Jordan and gave D209364 as identity code - of indian extraction as the accent would lead you to think. he waffled on - i matched the waffle until tired of the call. he kept talking about the CLSI number and kept rambling on about the keypad and the key next to the Ctrl key - lot of background noise guess it was the other scammers jabbering on - have they made a Bollywood Epic about these guys - them scamming marriages?

Similar to the above. Caller supposedly from Telstra Tech Dept insisting someone had hacked my account and that they had recorded illegal activity. Gave the name Alicia Smith - looking at the names above they're not very imaginative. She even gave me a reference number of DO44244 wanted me to open computer while she told me what to do to fix - scam definitely, very insistent. Given this number when I said I would check myself and call back.

Extremely difficult indian accent, caller claimed to be from Telstra Technical Support. Stating that my internet account has been flagged by their server as having been hacked and someone is now using my account and my details for illegal purposes. Furthermore, if I didn't act within half an hour, Telstra would have to cancel my internet access. I tried to explain that i don't use Telstra as my service provider, but he ranted on that they are the company who provides this service on behalf of the government and that my ISPN was showing on his system as being compromised and putting the server at risk. In the end I stopped being nice and yelled, demanding a contact number so I could make my own enquiries and get back to them if I required their services. I made my own phone call to Telstra's Technical Services dept to check and report this scam. They escalated this to their security team.
