Keep calling saying to ring a number won’t say where they are from just to urgently call a number left. If they don’t advise who they are I don’t call back. it is ARL who is a debt collection on behalf of but under our laws as I have paid a set amount each week they are not allowed to refer to a debt collection agency. I refuse to call as I make payments regularly for the small outstanding amount. Under Australian Law if they don’t send the money back they have legally accepted your payment terms and can not send the debt to collection.

ARL on behalf of PayPal....definitely a scam. I hung up when she started asking for my personal information. My PayPal has a zero balance and I haven't used it for a couple of years.

Called and when I answered no one on the other end said anything for about 10 seconds and then they hanged up.

Answered and said Hello. Took a awhile before the lady asked to speak with 'x'. I asked her to provide surname as well but she couldn't. Claimed she needed to know if speaking with 'x' and then all would be revealed. Asked again for a surname to go with 'x' to ensure speaking with correct person. She hung up. I hope her conscious allows her to sleep well.

Glad I checked here as I keep getting sms from ARL about money I owe PayPal as well! I keep up to date with my accounts and do not owe anything.

Received SMS (0407 545 236) 2 days ago claiming my PayPal account had been referred to ARL for further action ... didn't go to the website link or call as I don't have a PayPal account.
Received call from (03) 9000 3421 today and Indian guy called me by first name and said he was from ARL on behalf of PayPal. I told him I didn't have a PayPal account, but thanks for trying to scam me. His only reply was 'Oh'. PLEASE REMEMBER T NOT PROVIDE ANY PERSONAL DETAILS OVER THE PHONE TO SOMEONE WHO CALLS YOU. They can mask a real phone number.

Information phishing scam

PayPal scam. They asked me to return the call at 1300 303 849 and provide a call reference number that they left on the voicemail. I did as I was curious to see what they would do. A male with an Indian accent told me I had an outstanding debt on my PayPal account (which was not true, I checked it prior to calling them). When I said I didn't have an outstanding debt, he tried to get my details to verify who he was speaking to, when I said they must know that as they had my number, used my name, and gave me a call reference number only 5 minutes before, he got flustered. I hung up. They haven't bothered to contact me again about this apparent outstanding debt.

They asked to confirm my Full Name, DOB, and Address to verify my identity.

Caller: Claimed to be from ARL Collections

Just for the hell of it I called the number. Didn't reveal too much info to them. Indian sounding voice. He um'ed and ahh'ed as he mumbled that he was looking for my account which I had given no info. I said I had no recollection of having dealt with ARL. I also said that I had put the 09 900 3421 number into Google and it came up as a scam so out of interest I was just ringing to see what the scam was. He said that maybe I should not be ringing the number then. I then said that the scam info said that it was claiming to be associated with PayPal and he chuckled and said "on well you do know something about it then" and then he wished me a good day.
