Guy from the ATO Legal Department in Sydney rang and left a pre-recorded message saying his name was John Watson (Canadian accent) and I should ring him. He stated we are accused of tax fraud and will go to Federal Court or be arrested if I dont ring back on this number (number is disconnected by the way) also number is Melbourne area code not Sydney and he said ATO but ATO people usually say they are from the Australian Taxation Office and he failed to say who the message was for. This dude is a scammer!

Indian man says he's from Australian Taxation Agency, couldn't even pronounce name of person he wanted to speak to, just hang up on him!

I had four calls in one day from these bastards. I finally realised that it was a recorded message. I could not understand their instruction due to the strong accent. The message was that if I did not follow their instruction and call an (03) 8820 5960 I would be arrested. I found this quite intimidating. If they call again, the caller will get an earful of the foulest expletives.

Threatening message on my answering service at 4:10pm :"... and I am calling you from the Legal Department of Australian Taxation Office, Sydney... that we have received a legal petition notice concerning the tax fraud against your name..." threatening that I might be arrested unless I ring the number.
Obviously some sort of scam!
