Caller: Claimed to be ANZ Claimed to be ANZ, indian call centre, wanted to verify my details. Rejected this and received SMS with wrong ANZ number. Called the ANZ number from webpage and they said someone wanted to speak to me and made attempt. Told them it is highly problematic if outgoing ANZ call requests me to validate all my details. (Australian) ANZ staff agreed and connected me to relevant department to sort things out. Do not validate your details to this call. Fishy

Caller: Scammer pretending to be ANZ This number (03) 8693 0000 is a scammer. They pretend to be the ANZ and tried ripping off my elderly mother today. They start out with a lady caller then move on to a guy. They almost had her at the computer giving them access, but she was arguing that she doesn’t use internet banking.”Doesn’t matter, we will set it up in case you do.” Thankfully Tom from the ANZ security section rang as I arrived a Mum’s house and when she said “Oh look, ANZ are ringing me” and the scammer hung up really quick. She never uses internet banking but they had her credit card details and they had $3800 ready to go out of her account- so BE CAREFUL!

Caller: ANZ I received a txt message about fraudulent activity on my account. It asked to reply 0 if it wasn’t me and they’d have someone from their team contact me in the next 30mins. When I received the call it was this number that showed on my screen. I didn’t think it would have been anything to be suspicious about since I was in a rush to get ready for work. My sister had stayed the night and woke up as I was on the phone to the person from ANZ. I explained to her what had happened and she felt it was odd that given the time of the morning I received the txt and call. She googled the number and came across people stating that it’s not an ANZ number and most likely a scam. To be sure it was really a representative of ANZ she made me call the customer service number to confirm whether someone was really trying to make a transaction from my account. The lady I spoke to told me exactly what I was told by the man who called me earlier. She was also able to confirm that it was in fact, someone from their fraudulent department who did call me as it was lodged into their system. If in doubt always call customer service line to double check.

Caller: Claims to be from ANZ. Claimed to be from ANZ. Knew my Christian name. Wouldn’t tell me the reason for calling until I gave him my date of birth to confirm my identity. I said I’d call him back but checked this site first. He had a very heavy Indian accent and difficult to understand. Will block. Good try.

Caller: ANZ Super I got a call from (03) 8693 0000 in relation to an inquiry I made earlier, in relation to superannuation. The caller sounded Filipino. She was professional and I received an email later, confirming details we discussed. So, the number is legit but usual precautions apply. In case it's possible to spoof caller ID, always ask some questions which validates the identity of the caller before supplying sensitive personal information. Or, even better, suggest to call back on a number with certain authenticity.

Caller: Claimed it was ANZ (Heavy accent) I contacted ANZ who suggested (03) 8693 0000 was likely a scam but confirmed that the 1800 diversion is legit. Thanks for the clarification ANZ.

Caller: ANZ This was definitely a legitimate call. If you try calling the 8693 0000 number back it comes up as an unavailable number, but directs you to call ANZ 1800 number. There is nothing dodgy about this. If you have accounts with ANZ, they are just calling you about that.

Caller: Divya from ANZ It does seem legit, however when i asked where the caller was from she said "Australia" Can only assume they use a call centre in India. She did know info that a scammer could not know.
