Got a call about a half hour ago to my mobile, didn't answer it because I have a personal policy of only answering calls from numbers I'm already familiar with.
Googled the number after it stopped ringing, and I see about half the comments on here saying it's real, and about half saying it's fraudulent. That's already fishy enough don't you think? Well, one of the other Google search results I found was on ANZ Australia's own official Facebook page, and they say that this is NOT an ANZ number. Straight from the horse's mouth.
The weirdly high number of people who've said it's legitimate are all either unfortunate souls who've fallen right into the scammer's trap, or they're posts made BY the scammers to confuse people! Stay safe and stay skeptical, everyone.

(03) 8693 0000 Must be a general switchboard number for ANZ. I received a call from them and it was an ANZ assessor from the Broker unit that I am dealing with. So number is definitely Legit. But you cannot pin point which department is calling you.

Received several calls this morning ..... Woman sounded Indian. She knew my son name but spelled our family name incorrectly. Said she wanted to talk about land titles but refused to give me details or who she was. Terminated connection forthwith

Absolutely legitimate. ANZ Fraud Department. My card was used to pay a cab fare in the UK 30 minutes ago. Obviously hacked someone who has my details from an online transaction. They do ask for security details, which I thought was perfectly reasonable.
