Scam Alert: False Voicemail from Glen Eira City Council.
This is a scam - Voicemail message from # (03) 8678 4200 by a 'male with Australian accent', alleging he's form Glen Eira City Council (Melbourne VIC). Instructed to call 1300 792 269 with a reference number xx4471651. Online info indicated no such thing existed. Called the Glen Eira council just to check; they confirmed that there is no 1300 number attached to the council; that the message is not from them or not connected to them.

My father missed a call under this number they proceeded to leave an sms stating "This is an important message for *my name*. Please contact CITY OF GREATER GEELONG today on 1300 792 269 quoting *reference*. Thank you." Blurred out my name and the reference number incase of importance, however my name on the sms was correct other then my middle name. The middle name listed was that of my mothers. Completely odd because it was my father who received the call and sms lol. And I have never in my live been to victoria lmfaooo.

Caller: Phishing attempt

Caller attempted to impersonate Stonnington Council like many others mentioned. Checked with council directly and confirmed this is a phishing attempt. Please submit reports to Scamwatch if you receive a call.

They were following up on an email I sent last week, was a legitimate caller

Banyule city council chasing me for two infringements. The reason they called is because I told the court they refused a payment plan so now they keep calling forcing payment in a predatory way

Called and left a voicemail. They got my name wrong (some of it was correct), saying they were from Stonnington City council and to call the following number 1300 792 269 (google search results says number belongs to a finance company in NSW, the ABN of which was cancelled 9 years ago). They then sent an SMS purporting to be from an organisation called "Stonnington parking alliance", saying to call about a council fine.
