SCAM

Filled out survey from Coles and receiving calls ever since. I've never answered and they never leave a message. Calling me 3 times a day from different numbers last week. I was also getting SMS from "Frank Brown" and "Michael P" saying I've won a prize and have a URL to click on which leads to a survey or another website for you to enter bank account details.
Now calling once a day from a different number everyday.

Some people have filled out surveys (for gift voucher or to be a mystery shopper) from Woolworths, Aldi, Jetstar, Virgin and have started receiving these calls also. These scams are on all the websites we use so beware!

Don't answer.
Some people are getting calls and emails.
People are saying that they want a recording of you saying YES so that they can use it for other purposes. Once they've heard you say YES they end the call.
Some people are saying that the caller is selling funeral/life/pet insurance or advising that they've won a competition or in the draw for $250 000 or an iphone.

Whether they are selling something, are a scam or want a recording of your voice, they are checking if your number is active and will keep calling if you keep answering.

One complainant has said that it may be an automated system that makes the calls and if you answer the call, the system puts your call through to a telemarketer. If you answer and don't say anything the system will hang up.

Do not call register doesn't work when they are calling from overseas. Apparently you can buy these Australian area code numbers online to route calls through.

Some people are saying you can block they're numbers by emailing consumercare @ brandsofchoice.com.au
but I don't want to risk sending an email and they realise it's active and they reply with spam or keep calling.

I've never answered and they never leave a message.

Call center, competition

Thank you to all the above. My situation is similar. My strategy is don't answer it, check the number online and make a decision. I block the caller and delete it from my memory. In the first instance - DON'T ANSWER

i reject and block each of their new numbers everyday but someone please tell me they eventually give up!!!! never entering another survey competition again - scammers!

They keep changing Area Codes to confuse everyone... thy are all overseas numbers but these MAGGOTS are able to obtain fake Australia phone numbers via internet!!

It's annoying especially when you are expecting a call. I get it gets their job aswell as telemarketers etc but seriously don't bother calling those of us who have on numerous occasions taken our numbers off marketing and sales. We did it for a reason which is....we are not interested so leave us alone

I get at least 8 different numbers calling a day, I have numerous voicemails already this morning, you can hear background noise like a call centre. They even ask for me by name on the voicemail, i have blocked every call as it comes through only to being inundated with more calls from different numbers. I think this could have stemmed from an online survey scam which I did infact cancel out of but they must have already logged my personal details. So not happy !!!
