Same thing - calls every other day, silence, then electronic "Goodbye". I'm guessing it's part of a telemarketing campaign, collecting numbers of people who answer for real calls in the future.

Same as the comments but I have put a block on my phone to block the caller. Just makes me cranky that they annoy the crap out of everyone.

Hello Grant, I would like to confirm that this number (03) 8609 6989 doesn't belong to us. Some of the information you are quoting about Telstra etc is totally wrong. We haven't contacted you for sure. I would appreciate your getting your facts right before commenting on public websites.

so sick of this caller I get 1-2 calls everyday from this no and when I answer they hang up OR I call back and it is engaged.

Yes I've been having the same problem for many months & finally tracked them down to a tele marketing company call Thought World ex Melbourne 1300 896 877). I rang them to complain & ask them to take me off their data base with no luck so far. I've now contacted my phone service provider & they are investigating & seem very interested.If that fails I'm going to the Telecommunications Ombudsman. I was told a couple of weeks ago that Thought Worlds owner "Neil" would personally contact me regarding my complaints with no call so far.They shouldn't be in business! One of Thought Worlds major customers is Telstra so they might be worth complaining too also.

Exactly the same thing, have received a call from this number once everyday for 10 days now, when I answer there,s nothing there , then a female computer voice says "goodbye".

When I call back I get a message saying "optus regrets this number has been disconnected"

We had a call from this number and it was a telemarketer lady asking for the owner about our website. We said Were Not interested and disconnected the phone call.
The caller then continued to ring 10 times after that every minute and hung up when answered.
My boss was furious, and verbally abused the caller.
Does anyone know this company? They will find themselves in hot water soon!

This number has called my mobile a few times but I ignored it. Then I called it back form a land line and got engaded sound. I think it is a call center auto dialer,

I wonder if it is some type of data gather that will ring all number to see if there is a person answering. Marketing tool maybe?

This number has been calling each day for about a week now at different times, including just now 9:21am. I say hello a few times and then a recorded female voice says "Goodbye" and the call is disconnected. When I ring back the number, I can't get through. What is the stupid reason for this call, or more to the point, who is it?
