So much for government putting a stop to these numbers, they are still trying to scam. I received one today.

They left a message saying that I needed to call or I would be charged a large sum of money...my phone has not stopped all day with these weird numbers coming up. I’m about to disconnect my landline..

Caller: Scammer Pretending to be Microsoft.
They had my information all wrong and advised that the only way to stop being billed was to install and run a Javascript program. Explained that is not how it works and that he was not being helpful, he abruptly hung up.
For the record, Microsoft billing can be cancelled through your account online.

Total scammers. The automated message you get when they leave a voice mail says something about calling them back to avoid $199 being charged to your bank account. I called this number back out of curiosity and the guy says "I am calling you from your computer maintenance department" I said "I don't have a computer maintenance department" and he hung up on me. It sounded like a call centre in the Philippines to me.

Caller: Paul Smith (sounded African?) Called to say my account would be charged $299 tomorrow. Claimed to be from Microsoft Tech Dept. Claimed it was a free subscription from 2016, didn't I remember this???? Would be charged if I didn't cancel it, they couldn't do it for me. Due to them calling this meant they had (met their duty of care), my words not theirs. Very difficult to understand.

I expect a big time scammer - when I didn't answer there was a recorded message asking you to call them back if you don't want to have $$ deducted from your account.

Caller: Cancellation Dept - Microsoft The company phoned my mobile. I missed the call. I phoned them back on my sister's landline. The fellow with an Indian accent said I had paid them $349 a few years ago. When I denied it, he stated it was me thinking I was the owner of the phone I was using. Yet he had originally called me on my mobile, a totally different number! He put the phone down when I asked him to state my name.
