Caller: (Supposedly 'My Charity Survey' - But I doubt it) I think it IS a scam, and a very deceptive one.
The 'Lisa Collins' is a very sophisticated AI/Robot/Interactive Voice Response.
Probably one of the most real-sounding ones I've heard, and the most interactive.
Today I told her I thought she was a robot, and she laughed, said she'd take being called a Robot as a compliment, and then reset, and started the charity survey spiel again. No human would respond like that. I side-tracked the conversation a couple of times by giving negative answers, and she then said she'd obviously caught me at a bad time and that she'd call back later, and hung up. Usually, it's about 3 or 4 negative answers, before she decides you are a lost cause. But being a robot thats looking to scam you, there's NEVER an option to request she doesnt call back..
I think the people running this should be strung up for deceptive conduct. RobotLisa used to be pushing 'Next Steps Charity' about 6 months back, and I think something else before that. They must be a bit behind on the quota, as I've had at least 3 calls in the past 4 days.
September 2021, I got a call from RobotLisa:- THIS time around, Robot-Lady is spruiking 'Next Steps Australia', which she says is a charity aimed at assisting domestic violence and abusive relationship survivors. [A VERY worthy cause, but I expect my money would never actually REACH the people I thought I was helping…]
Soooooo…….THIS time around, Roddy is feeling even MORE snarkey than usual! [I KNOW; hard to believe, isnt it?? I blame the drought…]
Roddy endures a speil about how we are all obliged to help these people, and I was expected to agree that this is a VERY worthy cause??? At the appropriate pause for Roddy to agree, Roddy instead asks "Do you own a cat???"
A few seconds silence, and we launch into the next stage of how I should help the plight of all these abused people. [The fact there was NO response to my cat query has confirmed to me that this IS a robot, because anyone with a heartbeat would have found this response too offbeat to ignore..] Another few minutes of speil about my obligations as a decent human being (??), and we reach another pause where I'm expected to validate her assertions. At the appropriate pause for Roddy to speak, Roddy instead asks "Do you own a cat???"
ANOTHER few minutes of how I can participate in one of THREE different levels; the cheap-arse $100 scam, the slightly better scam of $125, or the 'Roddy is a freaking scammed SAINT!!' special for $150. Needless to say, the pressure is on to go with the $150 scam.
So, we get to the point where I have to make a commitment to saving the lives of countless women nation-wide, and I am asked for how bad do I feel about this situation???? Roddy instead asks "I ASKED you, if you own a cat???"
For the first time, Robot-Lady encounters the situation where the prey seems to have gone off-script, and so she apologies and says she didn’t quite understand my response? Roddy replies "This is the FOURTH time I've asked you; DO YOU OWN A FREAKING CAT??"
A few seconds of deathly silence, while Robot-Lady tries to process the un-processable…
Robot-Lady then says she can see she has caught me at a bad time, and perhaps she might ring me back later? She then says "Kind regards to you and your family" Roddy yells "ROBOT-LADY, I DON’T HAVE A FAMILY, AND I DON’T HAVE A CAT BECAUSE YOU WONT GIVE ME ONE!!!" Robot-Lady hangs up before her brain melts…
Wish I'd recorded it….sigh.

Receive a call from this number - no message left so I presume not important. Judging from the previous messages on this site - Scam - so have blocked the number now.

Caller: Missed call Didn't know number so didn't answer. Then looked up who called me and saw these comments. So tired of getting these calls. Am on the DNC register for all numbers yet doesn't achieve anything as they're getting numbers from elsewhere.
