They're legit. I got a mobile message about this from their Canberra counterparts about their Life in Australian Survey. http://www.srcentre.com.au/

When I went to answer the phone the call got disconnected. Then when I tried to call back it went to voicemail. Then when they tried to call me again I didn't answer they kept ringing. They've called me before and anytime I go to answer the phone they hang up as soon as I pick up. So screw trying.

Why should you be embarrassed? And why should SRC or anyone else be exempt from the DNC Register anyway? Why should I have to go to the trouble of listening to their tiresome opening spiel (with the mandatory "How are you today?", I suppose) and then telling them I'm not interested in participating? If such organizations want to have a fertile set of phone victims there should be an opt-in sub-register of the DNC of people who are willing to make exemptions for such organizations. The rest of us should be left alone and unmolested by these dubious outfits.

So sick of unwanted calls - I don't care if it's a survey - give me your employees their home numbers so I can call them at night!

After a bit of research I found that the number is associated with the Social Research Centre. You can read more about it here: http://www.srcentre.com.au/taking-part-in-research/survey-participants/faqs

If the call centre number is not blocked and you can see the number. Here is my method List the number is your phone as "call centre" or whatever. When they ring ( on an iphone) touch the power button to disconnect the call There is NO point in blocking the number, cos they call from a different number
