Caller: Fines Victoria

I received a call today from (03) 8373 9397 asking me to verify the same details: Name, DOB, Address.
They were able to inform me about the details of a traffic infringement that I actually do have.

Nevertheless I was a bit wary, so I called the official Fines Victoria number (03) 9200 8111 listed on my infringement notice, and the customer service representative asked me exactly the same questions as the caller earlier, and was able to confirm that the other call was in fact legitimate.

Therefore, this call was actually NOT a scam and is in fact from Fines Victoria.

my call was to do with a fine on east link. Just because someone has a Indian accent dont be so ignorant to think there all scammers. take care of your problems and stop using it as an excuse to avoid giving yourself a reality check and pay your way. Im not Indian Im an aussie. Race has nothing to do with it.

Dodgy scam. Not today satan!

I got a txt from Fines Vic, and knew nothing about the fine - got nothing in mail. I rang their 9200 8111 and was told about the large fine and whoever got the fine has my name, birthdate and old license number - I was not driving the car they described in the Melb suburb they mentioned, and not with a QLD car, so clearly someone has my details which is scary. Fines Vic are investigating it as many things don't add up, but I was at work all day so this was not me driving an unregistered car from QLD.
Make sure you chase up all txts and calls as possible scams or people stealing your details -this could be something from the recent Optus breach...?

Never gave fines Vic my number.
Never authorised mobile number as means if contact.
Abuse of the vivid tracking requirement and growth of app.

Getting a new phone number and removing service Vic app.

They can shove they’re fines up their clacker.

they keep sending text now threatining to suspend licence or car rego ..i,,ma gunna ring vic roads

been getting them for weeks months even tho it did happen ,one from 2 yrsago aswell over speed limit by 6km joke yeh hmm

they messaged me twice with fines for two different dates and offence numbers havent been in victoria for over a year

Text message gave this number as Fines Victoria quoting a fine about which I have not been notified by mail, so I doubt it is genuine

knew my name said I had an outstanding fine. I said I don't have a fine. Asked what type of fine are they talking about. Couldn't tell me unless I gave my date of birth and address. I said No. They said go to www.fines.com and I will be able to see that the number they called me on is legit. They also knew the last numbers of my licence. Has anyone else gone as far as looking on the website? I chose to look here first.

Definitely a scam, and I have confirmed with fines victoria who said they send infringements via mail, if fines are not paid in a certain time it is handed over to the Sheriff's department. Oh other reason why it's most likely a scam is I'm not Indian and my names not Rajesh

Correct - this is not a spam number, this is Fines Victoria - State Government of Victoria. If you're unsure, go to the Fines Victoria website and call them direct: https://fines.vic.gov.au (you know the website is legit as it's a vic.gov.au government address)

a female left a voice massage Said it was from fines Victoria and phone number, nothing else, so I'm not going to call them back, unless I receive a paper letter.

received txt saying call back re Victoria fines, I deleted the txt msg.
Few days later received call from (03) 8373 9397 to call them back on this number. deleted the number & msg.
has to be scam if they are asking others DOB etc
PS haven't been to Vic for approx 5 years .

This is definitely Fines Vic. They already had many details about me, proving their legitimacy. I was grateful for their courtesy call about a fine I hadn't received due to lack of access to my mail. It saved me further costs. Best for all responders peddling misinformation here to desist!
