Said was from energy australia, asked to call back for setting up the account. I happen to start my energy australia service last week so it was a bit tricky. But I logged on to my portal and it was all good so I know the call was a spam. Don't call back to this sh*t and just block it.

Caller: Received a SMS indicating I would soon be called by this number

I logged into my Energy Australia (EA) account today after joining EA last week and then used the online chat function to ask them if the mobile number 0481 071 069 was from the Energy Australia welcome team as I had received a text message today from that mobile number indicating that the EA Welcome Team would be calling me soon via landline number (03) 8364 1311. The EA Chat Operator confirmed the mobile number was from their Welcome Team so I expect the landline number will also be legit...so previous negative comments about the landline number are likely to be incorrect.

Caller: Apparently Alex from Energy Australia

received a call from this number, Apparently from Energy Australia, a guy called Alex from the Welcome team. Sounded really dodgy and then the call dropped out, reported to energy Australia, not their number and no need for them to call me.

I had a missed call from this number which came from Craigieburn, Victoria. No message left.

This is Energy Australia and it's legit - provided you just had your power connected. I just moved to a new place last week and they advised they would be calling to welcome and the call would come from this number. I didn't answer and blocked because they keep calling and I reckon there's no need.

Greg is correct. EA chat operator confirmed the number is part of their Welcome Team.

Welcome for joining Energy Australia, they left message

Two phone calls from this number but when I answered nobody spoke. Text message had previously been received from Energy Australia advising to expect a call, but I would have expected, if it was them they would have said something when I answered the call. I also opted out so not sure why they still rang.

Texted first to say they would call soon. The number they said would call me on was wrong. Said they wanted to help us get the most out of our electricity service. Typed the wrong number into google and got this thread.

I didn’t answer or call back. I recently signed up with Energy Australia like some others here. How did they get our numbers ? Coincidence ? I blocked the number as others said it’s spam.

Called me this morning. I didn't pick up. They left a voicemail - automated message "To learn more - give us a call on 8364 1311". Too bad for them I don't want to learn more. Number blocked.

They left a voicemail on my phone. I recently changed electricity companies but not to them. They are thanking me for choosing them and making sure I'm all set up to get the most out of my account and to ring (03) 8364 1311 for help. I looked up the website and this is not their contact number even though Energy Australia are located in Melbourne (not Craigburn). I suspect its just a way of getting all your details and bank details. I will not be ringing them back and am blocking the number.
