I have 2 student accommodation apartments in the City which are owned in 2 names. My ex partner and I want to break them up into one each, and I am informed I have to go through a conveyancing office to make this happen. The re-financing of this break up is in place with b of melb. What is involved to make this happen? Roughly how much will it cost? I have been told as the break up of joint ownership mortgages (as a de-facto couple or married couple)is the reason behing the need to re finance and split two properties owned into 2 separate names, there couple be a chance of stamp duty being exempted...is this so?
