This is not Roy Morgan Research. This is a weird basement-dweller dude who was probably masturbating while he asked you questions.

I don't give a flying f### whether they are a LEGIT company (eg Morgan) or anyone else because this is precisely how filthy grubs with fraudulent intent slowly accumulate details on your number...
Later, an accomplice cross references numbers, names, addresses, account details etc. until they have enough info to cold call you later to convince you of their 'authenticity'.
WAKE UP PEOPLE... !

THIS IS ROY MORGAN POLL. They are rude and condescending. They are persistent. They rang me 5 times. the first time i hung up on them. I am looking after sick people. The 5th time i picked up again and they tried everything to justify their call. I had to say no 40 times. I eventually asked for Manager. What a rude man. I said to him. "Look I said No" STOP CALLING ME ITS AN INVASION OF MY PRIVACY AND I AM LOOKING AFTER SICK PEOPLE.... ROY MORGAN POLL.. what the hell.?

Roy Morgan Research, if you have done a poll with them recently they are sending emails and following up with a call. Take the call it only takes a minute.

Why call and not leave a message? Rude. Going by the other comments though it's just a telemarketer.

Most people saying its Roy Morgan poll & therefore "LEGIT" but what idiotic way to do business - they use an auto dialler! That means its convenient for them but annoying as hell for us! Their computer dials about 20 numbers at the same time, since most people are not home or not answer, they just talk to the 1st one who does answer BUT HANG UP ON ALL OTHERS. this is not only rude but it should be made illegal - we should join up in a "CLASS ACTION" court case because this constitutes extreme harassment !!!

I think it's one of those revolting commission based debt collectors, who try to intimidate you into paying some minor bill you have over-looked. How it works is they try to confirm your identity, then they harass you to pay. Because they have "confirmed your identity", of they then succeed in getting you to pay, they claim a small fee from their "customer". Never give your identity to an anonymous caller - trick they use is "Can I confirm I am talking with John Smith?".

Caller: Roy Morgan research I used to work casually for Roy Morgan as a phone interviewer so I can tell you some facts. (most of which you can just find on their website) They are a Major Australian Research company - been going since 1941, highly respected and totally Legit. Some samples they call are random computer generated - designed to gather a genuine random cross section of opinions. Others are from different sources depending on the survey - eg: for specific companies who provide their own data bases etc. You can't call the number back because its not a phone - its a computer program. You can call them via contact number on their web site. Any interviewer might reach hundreds of AM's per shift so can't leave a message on each one due to the time it takes and restrictions of the hours they can call. They generally leave a message if its the first time you are dialed & your AM has a clear, friendly message with a name. Their research informs the Gallop polls, consumer confidence ratings, political policy decision making, interest rates and banking decisions, all kinds of businesses decisions for all kinds of businesses of all sizes which is vital to help them (and therefore the economy) to thrive, and many other important parts of Australia's basic functions. Its actually a privilege to have your voice heard and your opinion counted - just like voting is. If you aren't interested, all you have to do is politely say so and ask for your number to be on their Do Not Call list - takes one click. They don't mind at all - there are millions of other Australian's happy to contribute. Your phone provider's DNC list only applies to sales calls - RM don't sell anything - actually they pay you for some surveys. If you have a 'private' number all that means is its not listed in the phone directory for general public access. It will still be on many lists around the globe through any business or websites you have given it to and various data bases sold around the world. It can still be randomly generated.

They called at 8.20 pm and did not leave a message. Based on previous comments, blocking the number seems like a good idea.
