It's a Melbourne number, just got this call yesterdayas well...some people say it's from ORC International marketing Company (I called them back and I also found a woman talking about the ORC Int. Co.) and others say it's a debt collector company... but what company would call on a Sunday, Easter Sunday?! I think it's ORC Int. Co.

reluctantly received call (03) 8256 1755 after ah erring about whether to or not - and then answered questions. OK until asking for name - was ah erring about that - next moment it was like I'd given the ok and they were waiting to hear the name - which was given regrettably as am now worried about consequences - Am nearly 80.

Call made to my mobile but no message left. Thought it would be telemarketing company of some kind and remembered this great service. Thanks for the heads up.

Ive been having the issues. Is there a number i can call that will catch this company out as its a interstate number. Possibly melbourne or sydney number. Im going to attempt to block them.

I received a call from a woman from this number - she gave me the number (03) 9935 5788 but when I checked my "caller's" on my telephone I discovered it was this number. I have a private number, and am on the no advertising etc. register. I will be reporting the call to the police, and as she said she was doing research for the Government I will be passing her intrusive behaviour onto my Labor MP. I will also be barring the number but just a hint and precaution if the company ever calls again, or any other company like it, I (and you can too if you receive a call) insist your name is removed from their records - that is the Law and they must comply or be sued.

Registered Market Research organisations within Australia are indeed exempt from the Do Not Call Register. However, if asked to remove a number from their dialling list, they must comply.

Your information is incorrect, "clearing confusion" Only public interest bodies are allowed an exemption. Market research companies are paid by organisations to gain insight into how best to sell their products and therefore fall into the telemarketing category. Only government bodies, registered charities, etc. are allowed. The only time a market research company woul be allowed a special exemption is if they were conducting public interest research. Please do continue to report this Market Research Company to the ACMA.

I rang them 5 times in a 20 minute period abusing them and told them I will continue to waste their time as long as I feel necessary. I am now in the ignore list. Lol

They ring me and hang up when I answer between 6 & 7pm & after 8 pm

Check with ACMA who administer the Do Not Call register. These survey and marketing companies are definitely NOT exempted. Exemptions are strictly limited to charities and a few others. This number is ORC International, a survey company, and they are not exempt. If enough people report these calls to ACMA or the Telecommunications Ombudsman then they will be stopped. Posting a message here will not stop them - you need to complain to the right people.

Get your phone number(s) registered on the Do Not Call register (www.donotcall.gov.au). You can then report them.

I also have been getting these calls as described by others. Finally was able to get on to the company to request that they stop. Wait and see?

This number calls me at regular intervals and always hangs up when I pick up the phone.

They called the lady I care for at 9pm, scaring her half to death, especially when she understood them to say they were a government department. She lives alone and has no family so is scared enough anyway. Her accent was obvious and the caller asked her what language she spoke. When she answered "Italian" they hung up on her. She then spent a sleepless night, worrying.
