Caller: Market research company I don't normally answer unknown numbers, but on a whim decided to and it was an Aussie guy saying he was from a market research company doing a survey about travel (another comment here says it's OCR International who often do surveys on behalf of Tourism Australia). I decided to participate and the survey went for around 5-10 mins. He was very polite and it was nice to chat to him. I discussed two recent interstate trips I had been on. For each one they wanted to know rough expenditure, things we did, where we stayed etc. They had the obligatory demographic/household income questions at the end, which he indicated I didn't have to answer if I wasn't comfortable. I used to work for a market research company so I definitely have a lot of sympathy for them and am usually quite happy to do surveys. The Do Not Call Register does NOT apply to market research, just FYI!

Caller: He said he was calling on behalf of the govt but.... I work in a govt office and when I answered the (work) phone and the guy on this number started his spiel about calling on behalf of the govt it was all I could do not to laugh. I asked him if he was aware that he had called a govt office and he said 'oh, no I wasn't, have a good day' and hung up. The list of numbers they call must be pretty random!!

Why should we be polite when you are intruding unwanted on our space and silence and sometimes waking a shiftworker or someone who is ill? People go on the DoNotCall register for these perfectly valid reasons. How about your company being polite and leaving us in peace.

Someone called my Telstra home (landline) phone from that number (03) 8256 1755 a few minutes ago. I didn't answer it because I only answer calls from numbers I know... According to all reports it is definitely an unwelcome call - I usually receive a lot of them on my mobile number which they obtained from a database that I inadvertently registered my number on about 3 years ago, when I was sucked in by a 'competition' to win an iPhone, which came in an e-mail. It was obviously just a trick to get people's phone numbers and unfortunately I was conned.. Nevermind. BUT... The problem here is I ONLY registered my MOBILE number, I NEVER gave out my landline number to anyone and my landline number is an unlisted or 'silent' number. So I am quite concerned as to HOW this nuisance caller was able to obtain my number!

Caller: Some Survey They are still at it. Just give it up, no ok be wants to take your surveys, especially those of us who are on the Do Not Call registry. I thought by now these useless surveys would have run their course. Very last century way of obtaining information.
