If you are a Telstra landline customer & want to block nuisance calls like this one, you now have the option of buying a phone from the Telstra Shop that can do this. The phone itself costs $48 and is well worth the investment. Numbers you BLOCK will hear the following message; CALLS TO THIS NUMBER ARE BEING MONITORED BY TELSTRA GUARDIAN; THE PERSON YOU ARE TRYING TO CONTACT IS NOT ACCEPTING YOUR CALLS, SO PLEASE HANG UP. People you place in your contacts list will get through as usual but anyone with a private / withheld number or a number that is not in your contacts list will hear this message; CALLS TO THIS NUMBER ARE BEING MONITORED BY TELSTRA GUARDIAN; PLEASE STATE YOUR NAME AND THEN PRESS # AND WE WILL CONNECT YOUR CALL. You will then have the option of either accepting or rejecting the call.

Received a call from this number. As others have stated it is ORC International trying to do a survey. The survey probably varies, this time they wanted to know about wages. Told them nobody here has time for that sh*t and hung up.

Hey folks, I work for a market research company. I get a lot people saying they are on a do not call register. The difference is that ONLY applies to companies trying to SELL you something. Those doing surveys are not prohibited unless they have a separate list that applies to them which there isn't. Also the best way to stop those calls is NOT hang up on them or swear but to be human and politely decline and say I am not interested please don't call us again. We are only doing our job and we all like to be treated with respect.

ORC International pests, they flagrantly and unethically ignore the DNCR I wouldn't therefore trust their data. They have now called me on (03) 9038 3887 AND (03) 8256 1755 after I blocked the first number. Now this one is blocked too. Keeping this as evidence of harassment.

lol... These marketing clowns are calling the number on the SIM in my 3G modem... You have to wonder where they got the number from though, it's never been used anywhere or given to anyone, so the Phone company must have sold it to them?

This number calls our silent number each day including weekends - always hangs up after being answered n the 2nd, 3rd or 4th ring. They are a marketing company, and therefore exempt from the DO NOT CALLS register - this is not fair for those who pay for a silent line, and we consider it invasive.

Repeated calls from this number - not enough rings to actually answer the phone and definitely will not call them back. I have a silent number and this is a NUISANCE CALL that is continuing at odd intervals. Who do I report it to or is it possible to have the number blocked through my Telco? What a bunch of idiots who get their kicks from harassing us.

Call from (03) 8256 1755, now saying they are from Australian Sports Commission - survey - typical of fraudulent activity that will soon enough result in millions of dollars of loss to Australians.

Oops Not a Scam
Posted on September 6, 2017 Caller type: Survey Location: Australia
Surprisingly it is not a scam, they are legitimately running a survey on behalf of the government https://www.tra.gov.au/survey/survey and they can call even if we are on the do not call register as it is a survey not a sales call.

From reading the various comments here and elsewhere, this number belongs to ORC International, a market research company who conduct surveys on behalf of their customers, and from what I've seen their customers mostly seem to be government organisations such as Tourism Research Australia (https://www.tra.gov.au/survey/survey) and the Australian Sports Commission.
The Do Not Call Register does not apply to them as they are not marketing for commercial purposes. In other words, they're not trying to sell you anything, just collect generic information. There should be no personally identifiable information required for any of the questions so they might ask for age bracket instead of your actual age, your suburb instead of your actual street address.
If you answer the call and don't want to answer the questions, politely tell them and I'm pretty sure they'll be okay with that and leave you alone. I'd be fairly certain though that asking them to remove you from their list is going to be pointless though because they don't have a list. They didn't get your number from a list, it was generated at random by computer (following an algorithm that only generates what could be a valid phone number, no doubt) so unless they keep their own DNC list, you're out of luck.

Caller: ORC International Company conducting a survey on behalf of the government. DNCR not applicable as they aren't selling anything. If you don't want to answer the survey just say so, no need to act like jerks. Some of the rabid bogans on here need a good smack up the forehead with a plank.

These bottom feeders called and said they were from DFAT, a federal department. They have since been reported to the AFP for investigation.

Was getting very annoyed by all the nuisance calls, up to 10 a day from; telemarketing, surveys, holidays, charities, calls from India etc. Then I saw the comment from "Mark 23 July 2016", took the advice and purchased the phone from Telstra ...... WOW!! what a difference, haven't had a nuisance call in a week ...... Thanks

Ok how long before something is done
If they want to ring then they should read the DNCR so they know who NOT to call
one day someone is going set off a bomb on all their phone lines especially if its VOIP (they can be hacked and shut down)
so OCR International better watch themself...........
