Caller: Unknown caller

I did not answer a call that was coming through on my mobile on 20/8/2024 from an unknown caller. I never answer unknown callers' calls, I wait for them to leave a message for me; 99% of them never do. This time a message, a female voice, was left saying that "a charge of $1800.00 was attempted on my card and instructed me to press '1' to authorise or '2' to reject the transaction.

Caller: Supposedly Paypal

Guy stated he was from PayPal, checking to see if I made an international transaction for $999.00 and that the funds will be taken from my associated bank account in 24 hours. He believed that I was the victim of identity theft and wanted me to log on to my computer so he could fix the problem, I kept him on the line for 45 minutes by saying that my computer was constantly crashing. When I had enough fun wasting his time, I asked him for my postal address that would have been on his screen, he hung up.
Smelt the scam straight away and kept him on line so he couldn’t scam someone else during that time.

Caller stated "your phone will be disconnected" I hung up, immediately blocked the number then reported to Scam Watch
