Ironically, despite all the above comments saying this is a scam, it isn't. I've recently imported a large volume of a production enzyme that required an entry permit from the BICON site from Dept of Agriculture, Forests and Fisheries. My product came from the US from a reputable supplier who shipped their products using Fed-Ex. I too received what I suspected was a scam text from Fed-Ex, however it included a tracking ID which when I looked up was my item from the US. Being skeptical I called the support number listed on the Fed-Ex page (not the dodgy looking text) and was able to clarify the text and the money that was owed. It was completely above board and the breakdown of fees amounted to a small service fee, import duties and GST.

The follow up text and call received today was asking for a manufacturers MSDS and statement of manufacturing.

Now not saying that some of the instances listed above weren't scams, but in my case was totally legit. Just do your sense checking - I was expecting this.

Tried very hard to scam me. Even more of a coincidence is I had a package from Fedex at the exact same time as the call. Very good effort though.

I had 2 texts and then a call from this number claiming to be Fed-Ex asking me to pay $237 on a small item from japan on ebay. They have my tracking number, ebay seller name and my phone number but something still seemed off. Glad i checked this thread, definitely a scammer!

LEGITIMATE call from FEDEX in Australia. It was their international customs clearance team. I have been working on a refund for duty that was paid twice accidentally. This was their team calling me to confirm the refund and check that I had received the email confirmation of the refund.

NOT A SCAM - LEGITIMATE CALL FROM FEDEX

100000% scam. This scammer is relentless. They emailed me, text me and then called me saying I needed to pay import taxes on Fedex parcel. They are very good at this, they have all the correct numbers and designs on their communication to scam you. I replied telling them I had reported them to the FedEx fraud department and to the Aus government fraud department and they got catty. My parcel arrived in 2 days time without an issue.

Not a Scam, the tracking number was for a set of books ordered from amazon, They required my full name for customs clearance. When I checked amazon the order only had my first name attached and the tracking number was the same with both fedex and amazon delivery info matched up.

This is DEFINITELY FexEx. I was waiting for a delivery and it is held in customs for clearance. They details some very specific things that are only written on the box, there is no way anyboxy except this caller would have known the information.

Its LEGITIMATE

Sorry but you got scammed. It is 100% a scam. I ignored all calls and texts, the same others received, and yet my package did arrive with no extra duties or taxes due.

This scammer must be inside FedEx or intercepting FedEx delivery details. I ordered a small, very low value ordinary item online which was then was dispatched via FedEx from Hong Kong. Coincidentally I then received a brief missed phonecall from this number (03) 7019 5541 from Melbourne (spoofed?). Plus I then got a Text Message from so-called "Fedex-Exp" starting with "GOOD DAY" in capital letters - looked fishy so deleted it from phone. The scammers are very clever to impersonate fedex, when they know a fedex delivery is on the way.

You’re responsible for duties in Australia. If your item was above certain value, then FedEx Wi be doing Clarence including payment from you.

I called fedex 13 26 10 and they gave me the 1800 111 112 number. It didn’t work, so I called fedex back and told them to get their customs dept to call me regarding this fee. My item cost $3.5k and I was aware I would have to pay aus GST coming into Australia. This number called me and when I asked sent me a breakdown of of the costs. It’s a very suspicious however I contacted fedex directly so I’m so confused.

It is a scam. These f*ckheads are VERY clever. If they can know when your item(s) are about due, it’s not a hard stretch for them to have the correct tracking number, is it? Sure, the stuff you’re bringing in may require some extra attention, but these guys are asking for money to “clear” my item. When I go to the official FEDEX site and enter my tracking number, it mentions NOTHING about any extra payments for “clearance”. I wish I was as clever as these bastards; they probably make a tidy living off scamming people EVERY DAY.

I also checked the charges on line for customs and these didnt match. When I replied to the email calling them scammers they said do you not want your package I said no send it back - vile humans stealing people of there own hard earned cash.
