ATO Scam, don't respond. fear mongering trying to get your bank account details.

Indian speaking gentlemen informing me he was from the Taxation Department and I was being investigated for taxation evasion ....once I informed him that I work, pay taxes and lodge every year ....he hung up!!!

Got a message left on my house phone saying my house was under surveillance and a warrant was issued for my arrest. I called them back he said his name was James Anderson. He said I committed taxavasion and the police were coming to get me . I hung up on him. I contacted the taxation department and they said I owed nothing and they had over 3000 calls about this scam.

We had a call from this number which was an automated message saying that we've been reported for tax evasion, should seek legal advice and to contact this number.
The funny thing is, they called an accountants office!

Got same scam call toda.
They hung up when I told them their scam was wel known.
Have since had call from another number 1 hour later that hung up.
adding both numbers to "blocked list" on my phone.

Hi all, they've moved to NSW - see (02) 6140 3479. Same "ATO" scam, investigation for tax evasion, debt recovery, police to be called, take all your things, yada yada.

Same thing frightened the life out me called our accountant & they suggested to google this number& hence read all the complaints, some horrid people out there.

Same - ATO - warrant for my arrest etc. Bloody frightening for elderly !

ATO scam, bastards

same as all the above, tax office, were in trouble, etc, etc.

left a message saying they were from the Tax Office starting official processing's against me for unpaid tax and my house was being watched making threats to forcefully collect the money, had me in tears laughing.

Got the same message from this number left on my phone today

This number called the business I work for asking to call back re Tax fraud etc.

I've previously been warned about this scam.

If you get this call, do not call back or give any bank details!!

Yes It is ATO scam ! Don't adhere to there requests. No comes from a pay phone.

Call from above no# stating from the commonwealth prosecutors office.
When I asked what do you want? They hung up. So through my natural curiosity I called them back and the "ATO" picked up. Kindly told them if they have any info for me to put it in the form of a letter because I don't give sensitive info out over the telephone. What gets me is they called my landline AND my mobile twice which are both silent numbers.

Message left by someone claiming to be from the Tax Office and saying that I need to respond otherwise I will be prosecuted for tax evasion and tax fraud. I've had similar "tax fraud" calls before, but they always left an (02) number previously - this is the first message I've had that left an (03) number.

Needless to say, it's absolute rubbish and I didn't bother calling back.
