Claims to be from the ATO and that I have a large tax debt in my name! Yeah right! Have heard of this scam already and I can see how some people may fall for it. If I could reach through the phone I would strangle this douche and tell him to go get a real job! What a cop out! Indian mans voice. Will be ringing them back to give them a blast of high pitched everything and anything until they hang up because their ears are bleeding! Scamming pricks!!!

We also have an atomated reply phone at work I have set it to ring him back every day for a few days while Im away. Picked the wrong bloke with a lot of time on my hands and a warped sense of humour. The last call he pleaded with me to stop hassling him. Our numbers come up as private poor little B***stard

I received a "No caller ID" call and sent it to the voicemail. It was from "Michael Anderson" from the "ATO" in a non-Australian accent tell me that there is a complaint for tax evasion and not to disregard the message. Thing is, I'm not Australian and, while I am on a legal visa, I'm the primary care giver at home and have not worked therefore there is absolutely zero that I'd be in trouble for. Scam scam scam. Be weary.

I didn't write down the number "Michael Anderson" told me to ring - I thought it was an 02 number. He also he had a Chinese accent, not Indian. The content was the same as others above.

I also received a call from this number today, "Michael Anderson" left quite an aggressive voicemail, he had a very thick Indian accent, in the message he stated he was from the taxation department & that he was going to pursue a case against me in "the district court" and a if I ignored his message and didn't call back I would be in tremendous trouble. Tax matters aren't generally prosecuted in the district court and if you're from Victoria like I am, we don't have a district court we have a County Court. Just staggering bravado from these scammers. I've worked closely within the courts most of my life. I've reported these crooks & provided a copy of the message to the police. PLEASE BEWARE of these foreign based criminals.

"Michael Anderson" called me today also claiming to be from the ATO and threatening the Police. Scared for about 30 seconds... Scammers are alive and well. Harass them if you have the time, otherwise don't give them the satisfaction of phoning back.

I also got a call from this number today. I got shocked and scared. They were telling me to pay $8000 otherwise you have to police will arrest you and keep me in there custody for 2 days. But somehow i managed to dodge them. I almost had a heart attack.

Voice message saying that there is a legal action on my name and I have to call back. Provided a name as "Michael Anderson" from the Australian Taxation Office. Horrible message!

Be careful everybody this number is a scame they siad they are from ATO and I did ring back asking who they are and ask him if he is ATO he will know my date of birth and full name' he siad you tell me first then I told him do you have a middle finger then pu it in !!!!!

Today I received a call from the ATO saying I owe $5982.00 for tax evasion since 2010 - 2016 and it is a very serious matter and if I don't pay it they will issue a warrant for my arrest. What a scam does he think that I'm a idiot. So I reported it to the real ATO. I hope that they catch these a**holes real quick. his name was Michael and his number is (03) 5902 7983. Please do not fall for it.

Just received a call to my wife's number in line with the other comments. Sounds like a scam - will wait and see if the federal police come to arrest me ....LOL!!

yes, I have received a call on my mobile re tax evasion and tax avoidance; same thing? a warrant is being issued for my arrest too, Michael Anderson from the ATO - I won't be responding, the ATO would not ring they would put such a case in writing. Verbal accusations are not worth the paper they are written on!

Also, I have just received a call from Indian male calling himself Michael Anderson saying they have a complaint against my name on the invoice on my name and requested me not to ignore their message but to call them back on the above number.

Message left on my mobile phone earlier this morning. 'Mark Anderson' from the ATO threatening to issue a writ for tax evasion unless I call him back. 'Mark Anderson' has a strong Indian accent, writs can't be issued by the ATO or any other government department & if I'm such a nasty tax dodger why didn't he know my name! Mate of mine tried to call back but phone number was in no way that of a legit govt. office as no-one answered it & a recorded voice stated its message bank was full. FAKE!

Same issues as noted above, caller claims to be from the ATO. He stated I have a large tax debt and legal action will be taken against me. I terminated the call as this is a known scam.

Just rang this Punjab back 40 times to give him a taste of his own medicine. The longer hes on the phone being abused the less time he's scamming people. Encourage people to call his number continuously to break him

Just had a missed call from this number with the same recording .. you have an ATO Tax Debt - A warrant will be issued if it is not paid - called it back and it went straight to a message bank to leave a message - sounded very dodgy so I hung up.

Received a voicemail from "Michael Anderson from ATO. advising that they will be taking action against me if i dont contact them on (03) 5902 7983 to sort it out.
