Caller: said telstra Robot voice said she was from telstra and that my ip address was being compromised by some overseas numbers and to press button one to talk to someone. I hung up. But I will ring it back and see what happens. OK Rang back and said the number has been disconnected. I suspect if I had pressed number one I would have been talking to scammer smith. I get these calls from telstra and they are usually regarding internet in some form. I dont go through Telstra for my internet so I hang up. I will now check if telstra is making these calls if I can find anything on it. OK found something on these calls here as follows three posts below..... June 2017 Internet scam - IP Address I have just recieved a phone call from someone claiming to be from Telstra saying my IP address is being used from thre different powerpoints around the world. Is this a real call or just someone trying to scam me?
Jagaf Jagaf Level 21: Augmented June 2017 In response to Chris1010 Getting a random call about your ip address is definately a scam. What you mean "different powerpoints"? In fact a random call about your computer issues is also a scam. June 2017 In response to Chris1010 It is probably a hoax call. To verify you could ask them to tell you your IP address and the look it up on the Internet by typing "what is my IP address" into the search bar and pressing enter. If they can not tell your IP address or the actual address is different then it is definitely a hoax call. Even if they can tell you the correct address I would still treat it as a hoax call.
