Scam caller spoke with foreign accent phishing for personal details

I received a call from (03) 5212 9073, a number claiming to be from Newtown, Victoria, a suburb of Geelong. Calls from Newtown should start with (03) 5229. However, this call came from a suspicious number starting with (03) 5251, which is not a valid area code for that region or even in this country. I didn't answer the call, suspecting it was a scam, and blocked it immediately. The caller left no voicemail, and I believe this is definitely a scam. Be cautious and block such numbers immediately!

Said he was calling regarding solar rebate. When questioned, said he worked for a company called Green Solar Energy in Villawood. Told me that that government had provided him with my name and phone number! When challenged he just hung up.
